    So about a month ago Microsoft did its usual and forced me to change my password. Firstly, there's plenty of evidence that this has a huge negative effect on account security and so many people have begged them to stop this nonsense but they just keep doing it.

    Anyways...

    Got that all done then had to go through the process of signing back into everything, which went fine until my son wanted to use the Xbox one. Xbox won't accept the password. No error, it just won't sign in. No issues with the network, have tried everything except a hard reset now to try and fix it but nothing is working. I've been all through forums and although I can see others with this same problem I am yet to see anyone give a concrete solution. I would just try setting up a new account but we have a game pass linked to this account and don't want to go through the hassle of changing that. Support (hah!) has been a complete joke on this. If it were virtually anyone but Microsoft I would simply write them off completely as I absolutely hate companies that avoid having the ability to contact them. Palming this off on a "community" is a complete cop out and Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for their complete disregard of the end user. Given that I live in Australia, the only times I can request a call are from 1am to midday - apparently Australia (and this would be the same for South East Asia, Japan, New Zealand, China, Russia etc.) isn't important enough to have anything lining up with our timezone. For someone who works regular hours, this time just doesn't work.

    Second issue...

    Game pass on the PC won't install. It just sits on "making things awesome". I saw on some forums that it can have something to do with Microsoft store, but surprise surprise, the fix for that apparently involved reinstalling that... which also won't install.

    Since Microsoft seem to not want anyone to actually contact them it seems I have 2 options to fix this.

    PS5 or Switch?

    Thank you for responding, however none of what you have suggested helps.

    I know it's the correct account and password because I have used it to log into all the other bits that use microsoft accounts, including the one I'm using to post this right now. Recovering the password would be useless for this reason (plus every time I do this i have to go through the nonsense of none of the last 4 passwords and having to remember a different one again, something that has been proven to negatively impact account security but microsoft are absolutely set on doing no matter how many people complain).

    On the second issue, already tried all that prior to posting (except installing the xbox app through the microsoft store, since as I stated, the microsoft store won't work).

    For the xbox account, looking at forums it appears likely that its on the microsoft side and my account is corrupted. Only xbox support would be able to fix this which is why its driving me crazy that there is no way to contact any of them.

    First. If it is a forced password change not a password reset

    If you have a google account or use chrome do a security check

    From google.com

    Using 4 passwords isn't a good idea

    They do not hand out forced password changes for no reason

    It's could.be because of suspicious activity

    Please read the email it will explain it

    People use.same password and email combinations on various websites which are the worst idea

    If you don't have a mixed character password like @pP13w0r8 then.you do need to make password that matches the password policy

    We totally understand that you are having trouble signing into your son's account, and Game Pass won't install on the PC. Let's do our best to get this addressed in timely manner.

    Although it may go without saying, please make sure you are logging into the correct Microsoft account. Go to xbox.com and try signing in with the email address you think is associated with your Xbox account. If you can sign in, the email address and password you entered are valid Xbox.com.

    If it's not working, try different domains. @outlook, @yahoo, @gmail, @hotmail, @company

    For your second issue, please make sure your PC is fully up to date. Uninstall the Xbox app, then click the Start button and search wsreset to clear the Microsoft Store cache. Then download the Xbox app via the store. If you have any antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall and PC Optimizer installed in the PC that may be interfering, try turning them off for the time being.

    Thank you for your reply and letting me know logging into your account works on other platforms. Is your son logging into your account, or does he have his own account?

    You mentioned the times are off when you try to reach out to support -- have you been able to contact them at all? Different regions should have their appropriate time-zones. Here is the Support site for Australia: Contact us | Xbox Support. The hours should be 7:00am - 8:30pm AEST (M-F) / 8:00am - 6:30pm AEST (Sat/Sun)

    You mentioned your Microsoft Store isn't working, try following these steps to see if you can fix it.

    Terminate or Reset the app

    1. Press Windows logo key + i

    2. Select Apps

    3. Select Microsoft Store, then select Advanced options

    4. Select Terminate

    5. If that doesn't work, select

    Reset Use the troubleshooter

    1. Search for Troubleshoot settings and select Open

    2. Select Windows Store apps

    3. Select Run the troubleshooter

    Reinstall the app

    1. Press Windows logo key + x

    2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)

    3. Select Yes

    4. Copy and paste the command: Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    5. Press Enter

    6. Restart your computer
