    Xbox won't let me play any of my games


    First it happened to sea of thieves and came up with 2 different errors: one was that it thought the file was corrupted and then the next error said "took too long to start up". At first I thought it might be a problem with just Sea of thieves but then I tried starting up rainbow six but that didn't work either.

    I then waited for one of my games to finish updating which happened to be sea of thieves and this time it didn't always pop up with an error it just sat on the start up art for ages until it decided to kick me off.

    This is what I have tried so far I have restarted console, unplugged it and have uninstalled all my games. It has been a few hours since I first noticed this issue. None of these methods have worked so far. Another thing to add is that I tried to load up Xbox assist but that said it was unavailable as well.

    Also, I have wandered if it was my internet playing up but I have only been haven't been having issues on my phone.

    There is one method I haven't tried that I know of which is the power cycle thing but that to me is just the same as restarting the console so I didn't do it.

    I would also like you to note that this issue could have been over a longer period but I have not touched my Xbox for 3 days.

    Hello @E4JM, I hope everything is going well!

    Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support!

    I would like you to go through the following steps to clear the Mac address and then perform a quick power cycle on your console:

    Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

    After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your console.

    Another thing you should troubleshoot is your persistent storage by selecting Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections, and then selecting either Blu-ray and then select Persistent storage to clear it.

    In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox:

    Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

    Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

    Thank you for the step by step I am currently on the step after reset and I am checking if the game loads up

    UPDATE: it currently is running into the same bug where it is taking a long time to start up the game and is not starting up.

    Just had a thought could the fact that the games are on an external hard drive be the problem even though they've been working fine on the hard drive before.
