Xbox wont install any game from disc or from demand anymore

Ok, i have tried looking very hard for anything to explain this online with no results...and tbh its worrying me now.

It started with trying to redownlod Dirt 3 from demand, just to see if it would play properly, as i had no reply for my issue with that game last time on here. It would basically say "cant download Dirt 3" then the xbox would turn off if i tried playing
anything else with a single red dot on the power button (360 slim 4gig model with 120gig HDD). So there is a game i paid for, cant play, cant sell and cant get a refund for...which is fairly fustrating, to put it mildly.

Then i got Thief 2014, which only gets to 1% install, then stays there for a bit then tells me my disc might be dirty and may need a wipe...this is a brand new game btw, the disc was flawless, but like fool i wiped and tried again many times with only more
failure. I got rid of that game now.

Now i have been getting exactly the same results with Far cry 3 and Just Cause 2 and any other disc i try. It isnt the discs or lack of memory. I have tried cache clearing, freeing up more space, unplugging everything, removing and putting back HDD...but
still it does the same thing. I really have no idea what to do anymore. Is my xbox just dying or something? I cant understand why i cant find anything about this online at all.

Fallout 3 Games On Demand version and Point Lookout/Broken Steel disc.

If you have Fallout 3, whether it be from a disc or if you purchased it from games on demand, disc 2 from the GOTY edition with all the addons or the Broken Steel/Point Lookout disc will install onto your xbox 360 hard drive and be playable upon starting
the game.

i have tried that, if wont install as it says disc is dirty. I can not see any signs of it being scratched or dirty, it just wont work? may have to borrow from a friend and install.

Forgot to mention...apart from Dirt 3 (which isnt a disc), the other games play normally from the disc drive. So it cant be that. My guess is some memory or hardware malfunction at mo.

 

Official Microsoft hard drive for the slim come in 250gb and 320gb sizes. Since there is no official 120gb hard drives available for the slim, one must assume that you either modified an old Xbox 360 hard drive or you purchased a 3rd party drive. Whichever
it is, it sounds like your hard drive may be failing. 3rd party or modified hard drive means there is nothing we can really do here in the forums to help. If you have another hard drive you could always give that a try.

 

Suggest you buy offical a hds as they would have less issues
