Xbox won't Format WD My Passport 2TB Hard Drive

Hopefully someone can help; I've had this hard drive since September 2015, it formatted to my Xbone fine then, since the New Xbox Experience update it will only recognize it as a media player and will not give me the option to format the drive for games
and apps. I am not worried about wiping the drive since it has nothing on it to begin with, I'm only trying to use it for Xbone storage. I have reformatted it in NTFS, exFAT, and FAT32 formats, cleared blu-ray cache, cleared my alternate mac address and reset
my xbone to factory setting all to no avail. I have tried using xbox support and they were no help either because I had already done everything they recommended. The drive works on PCs and other devices but xbox won't give me the option to format it. Have
had this problem since December 2015, Please help!!!

External hard drive

I have this one, works perfect and really small, self powered, Just plug it in and fully restart your console then go to setting and manage storage and format, done.

Xbox One External Hard Drive

As long as its USB 3 then your good to go all you'll need to do is format it for the Xbox One. Either one you can keep plugged in and the console will keep it powered on so plug in and forget about it.

 

Hello, these things can take a little trial and error but give this a shot please.

format the hard drive on your PC again to NTFS

if you are using instant on power mode make sure there is no check mark where it shows “When Xbox is off, turn off storage” in the power mode settings.

leave the hard drive disconnected from the Xbox, power the xbox off by pressing and holding the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds, when the xbox has powered of fully power it on again using the power button on the xbox and wait for the xbox to fully
boot up

on the xbox go to settings/ all settings/ system/ storage and reconnect the external hard drive, wait for the xbox to detect the drive and then see if you can format as an xbox storage device rather than a media storage device.

if that doesn't work try changing the power mode to energy saving and try again. It's also worth trying a different USB port on the xbox too.

 

I will retry all of those things but I have done them already
