    Xbox Won't Find External HDD USB


    Ok, so i have a 2TB seagate external hdd i use as my external storage. Earlier today, i unplugged my console and moved it (with the HDD's usb still plugged in ) to clean. when i plugged my console back in it no longer found the HDD. The light on the HDD
    comes on so i know the cable works. i tried everything on the troubleshooting pages, including reseting the console but it still won't find it. when i go to manage storage devices it doesn't come up. Please held, and thank you.

    External HDD

    Yes External HDD support is available. The External HDD must be at least 256GB in size and use USB 3.0. Keep in mind that the External HDD will have to be formatted for use with the Xbox One console.

    Please recommend a good 3.0 USB hard drive

    I personally use, and recommend an USB 3.0 Seagate 2TB Expansion HDD for Xbox One, as external drive is powered by mains plug pack.

    Laptop External HDDs powered by USB port, are thinner; but, are also slower than Desktop HDDs used in mains powered external drives.

    People recommend Western Digital (WD) external HDDs: But, they tend to use Green drives that don't perform well, and tend to fail sooner etc.

    I'm not exactly sure but I don't see why one could not use a USB/ USB to External HDD (or in this case a HDD in a PC). The only problem would the Xbox 360 would need to configure the External HDD (regardless of its location PC
    or not) and this would render it obsolete at least in part to the Host device.

    After all, one can use an External 3rd Party HDD as a USB Storage Device up to 16Gb. But as long as it is Formatted by the Xbox 360 at least that Partition of it is inoperable towards any other Device.

    What brand of external USB HDD is it? Is it a USB 3.0 HDD? Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port on the console?

    Make sure that the USB cable is securely and properly attached at both HDD and console end. If the drive has an external power brick, try unplugging it and re-plugging it into the power outlet while the HDD is attached to the console.

    Well i've got an answer from Ubisoft support. The game MUST be installed into the original xbox HDD.

    Any external device wont work, either an external HDD or an flash USB. both wont work, only original XBOX HDD
