Xbox wont display on my tv

So let me tell you a little story....a long time ago when xbox one was released I got one on black Friday. brought it home and played ryse on my old hd tv (sanyo) that I had for years and played my 360 on before. played great, initial set up was a breeze,
a few days later I ordered a brand new shiny big hd tv (element). got my new console and my new tv and I was a happy man until about a month ago...

The backlight in my tv blew up so I had to go back my older hd tv. I thought, no big deal, at least I can still play. boy was I wrong. My xbox for some reason wont display on my old tv. I know it used to before and I don't know why it wont now.

so here are some details. on my older tv, the sanyo, I know the hdmi ports are working and the hdmi cable is working, I used them both the day before. the day my backlight went out in the new tv, I could still see the unlight image of my xbox in the screen
playing netflix, so I know the xbox was still working after the tv blew up.

I talked to a lady from customer support that thought I didn't know how to hook up my hdmi cables. she was no help. I really don't know what to do at this point. I haven't been able to play for over a month. I read something about resetting the xbox to display
on lower resolutions but I cant remember or find it now. hopefully someone can help me figure this out. im sure i'll get a new tv soon but I would still like to play my xbox until then.

Hey there hazzaaa!

As Derksweg suggested, it's definitely possible that your cable is on it's way out. Can you tell us what type of

cable you're using (HDMI, Component, Composite, etc)?

There are two different things we can try with cables:

• We can try a different version of the same type of cable (Example: If you're using HDMI, try another HDMI cable to see if that yields better results).
  
• We can also try using a different type of cable (Example: If you're using an HDMI cable, try using an HD Component cable to see if that yields better results).

Xbox wont display video on my TV??

Earlier today and yesterday I was playing xbox and I was at my dads house and it was working fine, I left to go back to my moms house and set my xbox and turned it on and noticed I couldnt find the right video channel? I took out the cable and noticed the
plug in was bent a little and my friend said he had an extra one so I went to get it, plugged it into my xbox and still doesnt work. When I turn it on I still sign into my profile and everything, I even had a friend send me an invite to a party and pressed
the middle button then A and joined and could talk to him. Anyone know whats wrong, is it my xbox AV port thats busted or what?

 

Hi, to reset the display settings, remove any disc from the xbox.

Power the xbox off, press and hold.both the eject and xbox button on the xbox until you hear the power on tone and then let go of the buttons.

 

So, I've got exactly the same problem. Yesterday, I Took my Xbox one to a friend, just to play a little bit of Halo. Connected it to a beamer there, he changed the resolution. Now, the next day I can not play on my TV anymore.

I have tried the 10 sec shut down, and press eject and power button at the same time. But no reaction at all. Does not help.

The HDMI cable and the HDMI port of my TV are working. Also tried to connect to a PC monitor, but no reaction at all.

I Could definitely need some help, because this issue drives me crazy. The Xbox is also rather new, just bought it a fortnight ago.

 

OutboundTuna73 to get the best support you would really be best off creating your own thread.

however just a couple of things to check.

The hdmi lead is in the output hdmi port on the xbox and not the input ? trust me this is easily done

Try this blind guide into the settings that I usually give to people who have changed the output resolution but I can't guarantee it will work for you.

Power the xbox on and the controller on but DO NOT touch any buttons or the dpad or thumbsticks.

Using the dpad only make the following movements and button presses

press the menu button on the controller

down twice on the dpad

press A

right three times on the dpad

down once on the dpad

press A

press A

down once on the dpad

press A

But thanks for the help. But has not worked.

I am probably gonna try it at my friends beamer again. Just a shame that I will not be able to play the witcher today. Even though it is not that bad for my social life.

Give this a try, I know you did partly already but here goes.

Press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds, the xbox will power off

Take the power lead out of the back of the xbox

Take the hdmi cable and switch the ends so the end that's in the tv is in the xbox and vice versa

Press the power button on the xbox several times and wait 30 seconds

Power the xbox on again by pressing and holding the eject button and the the power button, keep both buttons held until you hear the power on tone then let the buttons go.

 

Thanks for the help. But connected it now to a device that is 1080p supportable. Changed the solution, now it works again.

 

Hey everyone. Thanks for the awesome advice. Guess what? I fixed it. Turns out I wasn't holding in both the eject and power buttons long enough. Makes me feel pretty stupid but whatever at least it's working now. It felt like I had to hold them in for an
eternity.
