    Xbox won't connect to usb/controller


    I have an older xb1 so I plugged in the usb cord and continued to follow prompts to update but I keep receiving error messages that my controller isn't connected via usb when it is (haha). I have tried to connect and update both with the headset/adapter
    attached and unattached. Same response. Basically I am unable to connect controller to xbox via usb cord. I ordered a new controller (2nd gen I think). the usb cord is new. Thank you in advance.

    Q's about Xbox controller / batteries and recharging

    If we place other brand AA rechargeable batteries (NiMh) in the xbox one controller (regular or elite) and if we connect the USB cable to the controller Will it recharge the batteries?

    If there is no batteries in the controller and you connect controllers/usb cable to the Xbox or any other power source will the controller work as if it's a wired controller?

    Controller won't connect

    Yesterday, my controller died. The guys who were playing on it plugged it into the console using a USB cord. They told me once I got back to my house and I replaced the batteries. However, the controller won't connect to my xbox unless it's plugged in with
    the USB cord. I've tried resyncing it multiple times with no luck. I've tried updating the controller, but it is already up to date. I've tried power cycling the xbox but still no connection/syncing. I don't believe there is anything around that could interfere
    with the syncing, I've also tried unplugging the USB cord from the console as well as my controller, but it still won't reconnect. I can connect the controller to the console using the USB but as soon as I unplug the cord from the controller the controller
    can't connect anymore. I bought the xbox and controller new about a month ago, so it seems too early to be having technical difficulty due to wear. Using the USB cord is a pain cause it's only 3 feet long, any suggestions?

    Have you by chance tested a different USB cable with your controller to see if there's any change? If not, let's give that a try to see how it goes Xbox won't connect to usb/controller :)

    Have you by chance tested a different USB cable with your controller to see if there's any change? If not, let's give that a try to see how it goes :)

    Xbox Controllers disconnecting and reconnecting constantly.

    If you remove the batteries from a controller and connect it to the console via USB, does the same thing still happen?

    One cause of controllers disconnecting when being used wirelessly is a faulty Wi-Fi card, as that also handles controller connections, but if it's happening with controllers connected via a USB cable as well, it won't be that.

    It's safe to assume no controllers from the 360 will work with the Xbox One. They've said 360 accessories won't work with the Xbox One, but didn't go into nitty gritty detail.



    It's been confirmed that when connected via micro USB, the Xbox One controller switches from radio to USB for data. There's been no word as to PC support.
