Xbox won't connect to network unless factory reset.

Hi all,

I have an xbox one x that won't connect to the wi-fi unless I do a factory reset and then, after I turn it off it won't connect again unless I do another factory reset. Wi-fi is working fine for all other devices and I tried it on my neighbours wi-fi, with a different isp, and it's the same.

Tried the hold down the power button thing and rebooted everything, router etc but nothing works except a factory reset.

Any thoughts? Really at the end of my tether.

Honestly, I don't know but how resetting the console only works once and this happens with other networks and I've had an original Xbox One that had similar behavior just makes me believe it's a problem with the wireless card.

You may be able to use the console with an ethernet cable.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know this for sure? This is the second xbox I've had in a week that has done this and it seems incredibly bad luck to get two faulty units in a row. This one was fresh out of the box.

If the wireless card is faulty how does it manage to connect when it's factory reset and only loses connection when it gets turned off?

I'm afraid the problem is with the console's wireless card and it's necessary to replace it.

Hi, it won't wake from the Xbox app if it's not connected to the same network. I would certainly try a factory reset keeping your games and apps though, it only takes a few minutes.

Hey Alex -

So while your Xbox One console will be factory reset, it won't actually remove your games and apps. You'll just have to add your Xbox Live account and re-connect to your home network once the reset takes place.
