xbox wont boot any games

a few weeks ago my xbox started playing up and wouldnt read any discs when i first turned it on for the day, usually on the second time it would work. last week it wouldnt play any games, it would load into them like the main menu and such but if i went
to actually play it, it would come up with an error code meaning the laser went. so i replaced the disk drive completely and now it wont even take me to a menu of any kind. it spins up then stops then puts me back onto the home screen.

xbox 360 original ( white case with external hardrive ) had it since 2008

was replaced by a friend of mine who repairs computers.

disconnecting controllers

My controller randomly disconnected today now wont boot up at all any ideas?

Xbox error code 0x800706f4

So basically i've been trying to boot up GTA 5 for the last hour or so and every time, it boots me off before the games loaded. I've held in the xbox button on the console and everything but it still wont work.

Well, we can't help you. You've opened your console. He clearly doesn't know what he's doing if it still won't work. I don't remember if the drive needs to be 'remarried' to the mobo or not, but that being said, it needs to be replaced with the exact same
drive make and model. If he didn't do that and threw out your drive, you have a useless Xbox. Either way, this is the price you pay when you don't have an authorized service tech open your console.

Edit: I found somewhere to do a cold reboot or powercycle by unplugging power for a short while on the xbox and boot back up.

This worked to a point then all that happens now is the game is in the queue but says "installing" then stops and goes back to "Queued". and wont even progress to installing... then eventually says "Installation Stopped!"

Guess Im a step closer but it wont go any further.

most of the time the xbox wont finish booting unless it detects hdmi connection.

im having the same issue right now as well. its taking a long time to boot up to the dashboard after selecting profile and it wont load any games or apps. I cleared the system cache and that did nothing. attempted the xbox live connection test and it froze

- May I ask exactly what happens when you try to launch one of your games? Do you get any error codes/messages?

- Are there any external storage units plugged into your console?

- The factory reset you tried, was it done keeping games and apps or removing everything?
