Xbox wireless receiver on windows 8.1

    Xbox wireless receiver on windows 8.1


    I bought the xbox wireless receiver after confirming on the xbox.com that it was compatible with windows 8.1 .

    However, the drivers are not installed when plugging the USB receiver in my computer. When trying to manually install the xbox wireless driver from the Microsoft catalogue, none of them work.

    The receiver works fine on my laptop (windows 10) so the receiver is not the problem rec

    There is no controller driver to download for Windows 8 because the driver is already installed as part of the Operating System. This applies to both the Desktop version of Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 8/8.1RT for Windows Surface Tablets.

    If you have a wired Xbox 360 controller, just plug it in, it will work straight away. For wireless controllers you still need a wireless gaming receiver. And yes, the receiver does work with Windows 8RT.

    In Windows 8.1 (and perhaps 8) Xbox 360 wireless receiver is one of the devices you can select; i.e. the driver is built-in. Select it and your eBay purchase should start working ;)

    @SlightJeans3. The Xbox 360 controller both wired and wireless (with a gaming receiver for the wireless pad) are compatible and work fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. There is no driver to download for Windows 8 as the driver is already installed and ready
    to go for Windows 8 PC's and surface tablet devices.

    I've been using mine this week to play the PC version of Skyrim. Not only that, but in the coming weeks the Xbox One controller will also be supported for Windows.

    I dont want to upgrade to Windows 10. and you cant force me. but i still need to use the series X controller i just got on windows 8.1

    Bluetooth for Xbox controllers it's not available on windows 8.1, for that you need to get the Xbox wireless adapter
