Xbox Wireless Headset Mic Moniotoring not working

Please please can someone give me any information on the following issue

I have an Xbox Series S and I purchased an Xbox Wireless Headset. The headset is good and I was able to set up everything, people could hear me, I could hear them BUT I could NOT hear my own voice in my headset earphones. This was a problem because when I was in game I did not realise how loudly I was talking because the Mic Monitoring did not seem to be working. If I cup both my hands over my mouth and microphone I can hear my own voice in my headset earphones, just.

I had researched this issue on the internet but everyone seemed to imply that downloading the latest update resolved the issue but it had not and no matter what I did I could not hear my voice so thinking the headset was faulty I returned it to the retailer for a full refund.

On the 16th October 2021 I decided that to ensure I got an up to date and genuine headset I promptly purchased another headset but this time from Microsoft themselves at the Microsoft Store. Sadly this has made no difference whatsoever and all the above applies.

Am I missing something? Is there a hidden volume knob somewhere just for the Mic Monitoring. I am totally frustrated because my wife is continually complaining that she can hear me and I'm beginning to wish I had NEVER purchased the headset!

I have reported this issue on my Xbox but no one has ever got back to me. On the Microsoft websiters there does not seem to be any means to pose my question to Microsoft directly and it seems the only thing I can do is request a repair or whatever it is that Microsoft choose to do which is probably send me another, probably refurbished and not new headset, and the same issue still exist.

Sending things back to Microsoft, recently sent controller back, takes more than four weeks so before I ask Microsoft for a refund does anyone have any idea if this fault exists on all Xbox wireless headsets and if not does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

If not, the next question might be to ask for recommendations on 3rd party Wireless Headsets for Xbox which DO have mic monitoring.

Hi there Matrix welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I have had a faulty headset as well so I totally understand the frustration, sometimes our consoles are the ones who act up so before giving up on the headset try rhis;

The first step in resetting an Xbox is to open the main menu. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:

Press the home button on your Xbox controller. This is the illuminated button with a stylized X that is centrally located on the front of the controller near the top.

Alternately, you can press the left bumper until you reach the home tab, and then press left on the d-pad.

Press down on the d-pad until you reach the gear icon.

Press the A button to select the gear icon.

With all settings highlighted, press the A button again to open the settings menu.

Press down on the d-pad until you reach System.

Press the A button to open the System submenu.

With console info highlighted, press the A button again.

Press down on the d-pad to select reset console.

Press the A button to select this option and move to the final step.

Press left on the d-pad to select Reset and keep my games & apps. Then press the A button. This is the less thorough of the two options, as it only resets the Xbox firmware and settings without touching your games and apps. Try this first, as it allows you to avoid downloading everything all over again.

Thanks for that and even though I've done this before I have just now done it again but the problem still exists.

I don't understand how others can here me loud and clear and I can hear them loud and clear and yet I cannot hear my own voice at all in my earphones. How is it even possible??

Others can hear me through my mic but I can't hear me through the same mic!!!??

The "mic" you're referring to is the boom mic that plugs into the headset.

The mic I'm referring to is the chat system that allows one to talk to other players. Normally, that's supported by a wired mic cable that goes from the 360 controller to other headsets. On all other 360 headsets, a cable is required from the base of the
360 controller to the headset for chat. Even the wireless Astro A50 has a mic cable port to go to the 360 controller.

On the Tritton Warhead, that's all done wirelessly, same as the Microsoft Wireless Mic for 360 works. Tritton integrated the wireless mic into the headset base unit so that the headset can be completely wireless - no wired mic cable going to the controller.

It's the wired mic cable that the Tritton Warhead lacks that is the problem. There will be no way for the Warhead's base unit to sync its wireless mic with the Xbox One.

If all you want to do is use the Warhead as a wireless headset without a mic, it will be fine. If you want mic support, it won't.

I am buying the Xbox mic tonight and hope that this works but, in this solution you gave me is to buy an adapter makes the wireless wired or in other words return the astros A20 and buy a headset that has a controller adapter to connect to the headset..
How can I use a wireless headset? I will find out tonight if this works with the original headset mic for Xbox.

That won't work at all. There's no way for the Mic audio to get to the Xbox. You have to plug the headset into the controller for the mic to work, or use a licensed USB or wireless based peripheral.
