Hard reset your headset, clear your console's MAC and also check that the middle bar in the chat mixer isn't all the way to the right. After doing all the steps, join a party chat and see if your friend can hear you and if you can hear the sound of the games.

To perform a hard reset of the headset:

Plug the USB-C cable into the headset and position yourself next to your console, Windows 10 device, or a power outlet with a USB connection (do not plug the other end of the USB-C cable into the console, PC, or outlet yet).

Hold down the headset’s power button and the mute button simultaneously (both buttons are located on the left earcup), and then quickly plug the USB-C cable into your console, PC, or outlet.

If the hard reset is successful, the headset should power off.

Turn the headset back on. (If you continue to hold down the power button throughout the hard reset process, the headset will power off and then power back on.)

Note If you hear a tone and the headset’s power light rapidly flickers orange and white, it means you have cleared the headset’s pairing info and not triggered a hard reset. If this happens, try the steps above again.

Clean your console's MAC

Network Settings> Advanced Settings> MAC Address and Clear.

Currently I am using a Sades brand headset, they are pretty high quality. I haven't had any issues with sound cutting out on me, or people I play with not being able to hear me or echos . Their headsets range between $25 USD and $100 USD based on the model.
I am not sure if they have a lighter headset if that is what you prefer or if they have wireless headsets. You can find them over at Amazon

Xbox gaming headset will you hear footsteps?

XO4 so there wireless will i need to purchase the xbox one headset adapter at all?

i really only want to spend around £90 and below

just after a good clear headset and be able to hear frags being thrown and hear footsteps.

yeh i realised that the + and - keys control overall volume. The game and chat buttons control the balance between game sound and chat sound.

It was nice not being able to hear Genchy for a minute or two tho

This still does not stop the sound from being muted when in a call. Is it not possible to be in a discord call on the PC and hear in game sounds while using this headset?
