    Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Latency

So recently I purchased a Wireless Headset for Xbox Series X and after initial setup I discovered that it has quite noticeable lag (~100ms) in stereo mode and even worse (~300ms) in Atmos. Of course you can say, that every wireless headphones has it, BUT as I understand it works over the same wifi-based protocol as a controller, and while there is no latency when wired headphones connected to 3,5mm output, I have no logic explanation to have such lag with headset either.

    :)

I do not own the Xbox wireless headset, but I had read review from rting.com that it has 200ms latency. While I do not have an explanation to why the lag, the lag is probably expected.

I also notice there is some lag on controller 3.5 output. If you use monitor speaker and controller headphone at the same time, you will notice the lag, although very minimal.

Hello, exactly the same issue as described. My Xbox Wireless Headset has noticeable delay in all games. In stereo uncompressed its better but in Atmos is worse. All headphones connected to the controller have no lag at all. Hard reset was performed no results. Is there a knows issue with these headphones?

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey JCK_Xbox, how are you today? Hope you're well.

So, the headset is connected to the console or PC?

    Try to update the Headset.

If your in your console try this also:

First clean the cache of your console that way:

    1. Hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until you hear a small sound.

    2. Wait 10 seconds.

    3. Turn it back on.

Note: It may take a while for him to call, don't worry, it's normal.

Then, restore your console keeping the games and apps:

***IMPORTANT*** If you share accounts with someone, you will have to redo the process of placing the account as the main one again, be aware of the chances you still have to do this, as Microsoft makes available per year, only 5 chances so you can make some account your console's main account.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the dashboard.

    2. Select System > Settings > System > Console Information >

    3. Select Reset console > Restore and keep my games and apps.

    4. When asking to pull settings from an old xbox, put no

    5. You will have to log in your accounts again, and when you sign in with your account, make sure you turn it has your home console also, that's it.

NOTE: Rest assured, you won't lose games or saves

Series X ANY Bitstream audio lag (TV, receiver, whatever)?

The audio latency with Xbox Wireless Headset and others using the same fragile protocol is laughable and a real shame imo. Had to switch to stereo uncompressed and plug my old wired headphones into my monitor's shabby phone jack in order to play Rocksmith with just bearable latency. Headset plugged to controller is just as bad as anything Xbox Wireless (which also develops massive signal degradation/pulsing distortion every few minutes.

I really hope some manufacturer brings HDMI 4k/60 audio extractors that are VRR capable to market one day. TBH, Microsoft should actually go ahead and do just that in order to fix their mess.

Thank you! Is it possible that your Xbox Wireless Headset displays as more than one audio device in your audio device list? (ex: Wireless Headset Stereo, Wireless Headset - Hands Free AG)
