  1. Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance (Left earcup) not working on PC

Hello, my Xbox Wireless Headset is updated to latest firmware (0.0.9.24) and connected to a Windows 10 PC via Xbox Wireless Adapter but the Audio balance feature doesn't work as it does on my Xbox Series X.

    Any ideas?

    :)

Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance (Left earcup) not working on PC

    Hi Lee Tollerfield,

Thanks for the update! Given that this issue happens when the headset is connected to PC and not on Xbox Series X console. There are 3 possible reasons why this happens: First, there could be an interference of any device or things located in your left side. Second, the Xbox Wireless Adapter might need an update or to be reinstall in which we can easily fix with troubleshooting. Lastly the device needs repair but in your case this might not be applicable.

    Suggested Troubleshooting

    Method 3:

May we know what is nearby your left side when facing the PC, is there tiles plaster or concrete wall or glass or wires or mirrors or cabinet of any kind? If yes, kindly move your location that has no interference on your left side or move the object (if possible) away. See if your Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance works for the left (earcup). Ensure there is no wireless interference. Interference can degrade your wireless signal, which will affect audio performance.

    Method 4:

To isolate this issue, kindly check if your device Windows 10 is up-to-date. Please use this guide: How to get software and driver updates for Windows 10.

    Method 5:

Try to use different USB port for the adapter and check if the issue persists.

    Method 6:

Next, kindly update driver for your Xbox Wireless Adapter. Follow the steps below:

Note: Make sure your Windows device is connected to the internet and is up-to-date. Reboot device.

    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.
    3. Select Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window.
    4. Select the Driver tab.
    5. On the Driver tab, select Update Driver.
    6. Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter.
    7. If same issue, try to follow all of the above steps thoroughly one more time. If this doesn't work, you need to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the adapter.
Method 7: See this link - Troubleshoot the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows | Xbox Support

Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have partially installed. To do so, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to complete this process:

    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.
    3. Select Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window.
    4. Select the Driver tab.
    5. On the Driver tab, select Uninstall or Uninstall Device (depending on your version of Windows).
    6. On the confirmation window, check the Delete the driver software for this device box.
    7. Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter.
    8. If the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows still does not install, follow all of the above steps thoroughly one more time.
If this doesn't work, kindly contact Xbox Support for a real time assistance: Contact us | Xbox Support.

Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance (Left earcup) not working on PC

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have the Accessories app and the firmware is the most up-to-date version.

I can hear people fine and people can hear me fine.

I can also hear the games fine and my equalizer is okay.

However, unlike when connected to my Xbox, I can't use my left earcup to change audio balance between Game Chat and Voice Chat.

Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance (Left earcup) not working on PC

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply.

The laptop is in the middle of the desk and has no walls/objects around it.

My Windows 10 is fully up-to-date.

My Xbox Wireless Adapter is fully up-to-date and have also re-installed drivers.

Still not working as it does on my Xbox Series X.

Xbox Wireless Headset Audio Balance (Left earcup) not working on PC

    Hi Lee Tollerfield,

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We understand that you are trying to use the Xbox Wireless Headset and is unable to because Audio balance did not work on PC. Let’s us check on this together and sort this out.

May we ask if you already have tried to perform the headset troubleshooting? If not yet, better check this link -Troubleshoot your Xbox Wireless Headset or perform this suggested troubleshooting below.

    Suggested Troubleshooting

    Method 1:

If you’re experiencing audio issues where you can’t hear or others can’t hear you, first check the headset’s volume, balance, and mute settings:

    • The headset volume is controlled by turning the dial on the outside of the right earcup. Be sure the headset volume isn’t turned all the way down.
    • The dial on the outside of the left earcup adjusts the audio balance between game and chat audio. Be sure the dial isn’t rotated completely in one direction, as this will effectively mute either game or chat audio.
    • Be sure your headset mic isn’t muted (when muted, the light at the end of the mic will switch off). The headset’s mute button is located on the back end of the mic attachment, on the bottom of the left earcup.
    Method 2:
If none of these settings is causing the audio issue, check the headset settings in the Xbox Accessories app. On Xbox X|S and Xbox One consoles, you can access the Accessories app in the Settings menu: Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories. If you don’t already have the Accessories app installed on your PC or mobile device, you can get it at: Get Xbox Accessories - Microsoft Store

Note The Xbox Wireless Headset needs to be powered on and connected to your console or device in order to update its settings in the Accessories app. Depending on how many accessories are connected to your console or device at the time, you may need to scroll left or right to bring up the headset configuration screen.

When you find the Headset screen in the Accessories app, select Configure to open the headset settings menu, and check the following:

    • Check the audio levels in the Equalizer to be sure they aren't set to the lowest possible setting.
    • If other players can’t hear you when you talk, try setting Auto-mute to Low or Off.
    • If you’re hearing distorted audio coming from your own mic, try setting Mic monitoring to Off.
    • You can select Restore to default to quickly reset the headset settings to their default values.
Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding of our description by sending us a reply.

We look forward to your response. If you have other clarifications about this matter, you can get back to us by replying to this post.
