Xbox wireless headphones mic not working

I have tried many ways and several times to unmute the mic icon on the top right corner of my homepage. My headphones, nor my mic works. My controller is wireless but my headphones/mic plugs directly into the xbox controller. It was working fine
a few days ago and now it's not working at all. The headset is new. Any ideas?

Try turning the xbox off and then turn the console back on with your mic already plugged into your controller. If that doesnt work try going into settings and see if updating the controller works

Do you have a PC or laptop? If so, might be worth trying to run the headset through that as it would narrow down whether the issue was an Xbox connection issue or if it is a headset/adapter issue

Hi there D welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. You can try the following:

1. Turn off your Xbox using the power button on the console.

2. Once your Xbox has completely powered down, unplug the power cord from the back of the console. Don't simply unplug the cord from the wall's electrical socket — it must be disconnected from your Xbox.

3. Wait for 5 minutes, and then reconnect the power cord to both the Xbox console and the electrical socket.

4. Let another minute pass. If you're using an original Xbox One (as opposed to an Xbox One S or One X), watch for a small white light to appear on the Xbox One's power brick (the rectangular part of the power cord). Once the white light turns orange, you can turn your Xbox One back on. If you're using an Xbox One S or One X, just wait out the minute and turn it on afterwards.

Its best to get a replacement mic but as you don't feel like getting a replacement you can try this,

Turn on Kinect Mic.

Connect headphones to xbox.

Turn volume on tv down to zero.

Works very simply if they are headphones that are wireless or connect directly to the Xbox. Although you'll have to sit close to your Kinect if you want your friends to hear you well.
