Xbox Wireless Headphone in-game audio stutter, choppiness and de-sync

    Hi all,

I'm having issue with the Xbox Wireless Headphone with my Xbox Series X where during in-game cut scene, the audio stutter and choppiness which will result in audio desync and finally my headphone will just shut off. I tried 2 games with this (Star Wars Fallen Order and Gears 5) and this happen when ever there is an in-game cutscene.

I have clear the pairing, did a hard reset and re-updated the firmware multiple times and still having the same issue. As such, I would like to confirm whether this is a known issue and a firmware is to be release to solve this issue or I should submit a service order to request a replacement.

Just sad and disappointed with the build quality coming from Microsoft if this is a known issue.

    Thanks.

    :)

    Hi Samy,

    Thank you for the response.

I have tried your method above and the issue still persist. I believe the issue does not lie with the console but the headset itself.

Any other suggestions before i submit for a replacement?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

Whilst I am not surprised that it turned out to be that issue, I am surprised that it hasn't been patched yet given the issue has been present since the release of the Series X console!!

I have no idea what the best place to submit things is...I think there might be an official Reddit or something perhaps

    Hi Nursemorph,

    Thank you for your response.

I did the following test with gears 5 (Act 1 Chapter 2 beginning:)

    1. Wired connection my Xbox One Elite Controller (1st gen) into Xbox. Audio stutter in game cut scene does not occur

    2. Wired connection Xbox Series Controller into Xbox. Audio stutter in game cut scene does not occur

    3. Wireless connection Xbox Series Controller into Xbox. Audio stutter happens. However, by moving the joystick (i.e. making it response and not being idle), the audio stutter stops and works normally until controller is left idle for like 10 sec (based on my rough calculation), the stutters comes back.

As such, the response provided by you matches against my issue.

The in-game cut scene i tested so far with this issue was:

    1. Gears 5

    2. Star Wars Fallen Order

Therefore, is there a way to file the report to Microsoft so that a firmware patch can be put through to fix this? I don't want other people who bought this headphone for in-game experience to be ruin by this.

Again, thank you so much for the help. At least there is a temporary work around for the time being instead of needing to sent for a replacement.

I have just been looking into this. Do you have a Xbox One controller? If so, try using that with the console instead of the Series X controller....I would not be surprised if it had no issues at all

Here's a snippet of an article I found which I will link to:

"Among online discussions, one suggested workaround was to use an older Xbox One controller instead of the Series X/S controller, which worked for me, but is not ideal.

One of the quirks involved in the hardware clash is that wireless headsets don’t start playing up until the new controller is briefly left idle — roughly 10 seconds by my count — which makes wireless headsets just about unusable for games with cutscenes. In comparison, testing a wired RIG 500 PRO HC headset was totally fine.

Another oddity is that it predominantly affects games optimised for Series X/S but not older games. I tested multiple games and found the following to reliably replicate the issue:

    • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
    • Forza Horizon 4
    • Gears 5
    • Tetris Effect: Connected
    • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Some optimised games were fine, in addition to other previous-gen entries, however. Here are the titles that did not produce wireless headset problems:

    • Celeste
    • Destiny 2
    • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
    • NBA 2K21
    • Ori and the Will of the Wisps"
Here is the article in question along with another one about the same issue (please note these are not Microsoft sites):

    https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox...es-reported-turtle-beach-steelseries-and-more

SHould be noted that those are old articles and you would have expected a resolution to the issue. Might be that it's unrelated to your issue...just seemed too similar to discount

I also believe the problem is with the headset. The next step will be to ask for a replacement.
