  1. Xbox Wireless Gaming Receiver not showing up in device manager

I ordered an "Official Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver" and it arrived today. I want to use it to hook up my Guitar Hero controller to my PC. I am running on Windows 10.

To begin with, after plugging in the receiver to a USB port (for the very first time), it would show in the Device Manager under "Other devices" as "Unknown Device", which was normal because all I had to do was download the driver that it needed. I did this
and reached to the point of nearly finishing the process until it told me that the driver could not start.

Following this I attempted to uninstall the receiver device under "Other devices" in hope that it would just remove any drivers that it had installed on it so I could just plug the receiver back in and start again. However, since I did this, there is literally
no sign of the device anywhere in the manager. I've looked around for people who have had the same issue but I couldn't find much or anything that could help me. I have tried restarting my computer, updating windows, scanning for any hardware changes and replugging
the receiver into all of the USB ports on my PC multiple times but it still never recognised it, not even as the unknown device. I have several other laptops and desktops around the house with different versions of Windows but none of them could recognise
the device either, not showing a trace of a wireless receiver in the device manager.

It has been bugging me a lot because I've been wanting to use one of these for a long time now.

Any help and any explanation on what I've done wrong will be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks.

    :)

    Hi xiTzPrOxSniiPex!

If the receiver isn't being recognized on any Windows 10 device you test with it, that would indicate a hardware issue with the receiver itself - in this case, we'd recommend looking into options for replacing it.

If you purchased that from a third party retail store, returning to that store to inquire about an exchange may be quickest, but that would depend on that retailer's policy. Alternately, you can also look into

    processing a service request
    through us as well.

Windows 10 does not recognize my Xbox 360 gaming wireless receiver

    Hello,

Thanks for responding, but that did not help with my issue.

I've an Xbox 360 gaming wireless receiver, not Xbox One receiver by the way.

Whenever I try to connect the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver, it does not blink green or show up on Device Manager.

Can't Get my Wired Wireless X-Box 360 Controller To Work

    Hi,

Unlike the Xbox One controllers the wireless 360 controllers are always wireless. The play and charge doesn't send control data, therefore you can't make your wireless controller wired.

It will show in device manager when plugged in, but this is for automatic sync purposes with an Xbox 360 Gaming Receiver for Windows. If you want use this controller you'll need the receiver.

    Hope this helps.

[Help] Wireless Xbox 360 Controller Receiver Not Detected By Windows 10 & No Green Light????

Update.....Now the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver will not work on the desktop or the laptop. Perhaps it is broken, but it was working when I disconnected it from the desktop.

On the desktop, I get a Code 45...not connect for the device when I show hidden devices in the Device Manager. When I try to Add Legacy Hardware as suggested, I can drill down to the Xbox Peripherials, but there are no drivers listed only the option to install from disk. The driver that I can see when looking under the Device Manager is "Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 10.0.19041.1 [12/6/2019]".

On the laptop, there is no option to Add Legacy Hardware under Action for the Device Manager.
