Xbox Wireless Elite Series 2 Controller bumper issues

My controller's left bumper failed after about four months. Microsoft replaced it with a refurbished controller. Now that refurbished controller's right bumper has failed. Many other customers are having this issue, or similar issues, and Microsoft has acknowledged problems with this controller. Microsoft extended the warranty, which was clearly the right thing to do. But still, I have no confidence that the next replacement will be any better.

I have questions. Some of these are for Microsoft, but their online support does not allow me to talk or chat with a representative about this issue. So:



* Has Microsoft done anything to address the quality control issues related to this product? Do newly manufactured versions of the controller continue to have this problem?

* If yes, can Microsoft replace my controller with one that has been newly manufactured? Rather than with a refurbished controller that will clearly have the same problem?

* If no, can the warranty be extended further? Otherwise, it appears that Microsoft is just intent on replacing bad with bad until the clock runs out and I'm stuck with a broken controller.

If other people have had this or similar issues, I'd love to hear from them.
