Xbox wireless download needed

Did your controller ever work before, or are you just trying to get it to work now?

The drivers for the Xbox 360 are not available for download independently anymore, and there is no reason for them to be, as Xbox 360 controllers have been natively supported by Windows since Windows Vista. The drivers can't be downloaded because they are already part of the Windows Operating System.

Is your controller wired or wireless?

Unlike Xbox One or Series X|S controllers, Xbox 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. If you've attempted to connect a Wireless Xbox 360 controller to your laptop with the Play and Charge cable, it won't work. This is because the Play and Charge does not send data. It will just flash. Xbox 360 wireless controllers need an Xbox 360 gaming receiver.

Only Xbox One or newer Series X|S controllers can be both wired and wireless.

There aren't any drivers to download for Windows 10 as the drivers for Xbox 360 controllers are already built into the OS.

The Xbox 360 controller uses its own type of wireless protocol, it's not Bluetooth and so it can't be connected to a PC directly without additional hardware. It needs an Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver for use on a PC. This receiver needs to be specifically for Xbox 360 controllers. The receivers for the Xbox One controllers won't work either.

To install a game you need a dedicated internet connection either one that is wired or wireless. Having a directly wired connection works the best for download speeds, latency, stability, etc. Xbox Live is only needed use social features in tandem with
your internet on the Xbox.

Hey having same issue. However, i moved my xbox from wireless to wired connection and the download started again. If you are on wireless you may need to change for the update. Wish i had not done factor reset. Finally got past update error. Now i
have to set my xbox up again.

I am responding to your post because I am not brave enough to shell out the 60 bux for an extra controller. Does the gamepad come with a USB plugin for the wireless connection? It sounds like a driver issue needing to be installed or updated. Here is a link
