  1. XBOX wireless controller signal type

Hello everyone, I work for a company who makes adaptive equipment for people with disabilities and I have been tasked with figuring out how to make our devices able to control an XBOX. Can somebody tell me what kind of signal the XBOX controller emits? Currently
our devices are able to emit IR signals, for controlling things like the tv, so I'm betting the controller doesn't use IR but wondering if I can get a converter. Any help is appreciated!

    :)

Are all Xbox One Controllers going to be Wireless?

    Yes, but also no.

Every Xbox One controller is wireless. However, when you plug it in via USB it becomes wired and sends the signal via wire instead of wireless (while also charging batteries, if you are using the charge-pack - or in the case of your question, it's using the power via cable instead of the batteries).

This is in contrast to how Xbox 360 controllers work. X360 has both wireless and wired. An X360 wireless controller when plugged in via USB is still sending the signal wireless, but is getting power via the USB. This is why you can't plug an Xbox 360 wireless controller via USB into your computer and have it work, because the controller is still sending a wireless signal.

This makes the Xbox One controllers great for both Xbox One and PC gaming, because you don't need to buy a 'wired' controller for it to work on the PC, you can just plug it in via USB and it'll send the signal via USB instead. I'm really glad Microsoft did this.

Well, that sounds great. Let me get this straight though, does this mean that we don't have to buy a separate Play and Charge kit? Not like it matters too much to me, as I prefer wireless, but I wanna know.

Wireless mic making me disconnect from Xbox live

What type of mic is it and are you running a lot of wireless signals at the same time you are playing Xbox LIVE?

    Wired arcade sticks.

The only way to have both plugged in but the wireless be the primary(1st) controller is the method of which you spoke about. The reason behind this is the signaling of the wired controller is much fast in reaching the console than the signaling of wireless
controller due to in not being directly connected. There is no option in the settings to change this and no work around to it other than having the wireless connected only and then plugging in the wired controller.

    [Solved] Xbox controllers disconnecting

Make sure that nothing is interfering with your controller’s wireless signal:

    1. Move closer to your Xbox. The range for wireless controllers is 19-28 ft (6-9 m), but things like walls and interference from other wireless devices can reduce the range. Range may also be reduced if your Xbox faces away from you or sits
in a cabinet. Make sure your controller is pointed at the front of your Xbox.
    2. Remove objects between your controller and Xbox. Check the space between you and the Xbox for things that might interfere with your controller’s wireless signal (laptops, microwave ovens, cordless phones, wireless routers, metal dividers,
      shelves, doors, and so on).
Once you’re sure your controller can send a clear signal, power cycle your Xbox by pressing and holding the
Xbox button on the front of the console for 10 seconds, until the console shuts off. Then, turn it back on.
