Xbox Wireless Controller and iPad

Hi,

I am using an Xbox wireless controller (Model: 1914) with my iPad on iPad OS 15.2. Both the controller and iPad are on the latest firmware. I have already tried re-pairing the controller and have restarted both the iPad and Controller.

I am having an issue where the iPad says “Using this accessory may affect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.” There is also no disconnect button on the iPad so I have to manually press and hold the Xbox button on the controller until it disconnects. All my other Bluetooth devices have the “Disconnect” button in the settings app on my iPad.

I want the message to go away but also have the disconnect button on the iPad. I already tried all the troubleshooting steps so I was wondering if there are any other methods or if Microsoft can release a new firmware update via the “Xbox accessories” app to fix this issue please.

Hello Joel, I did a little research regarding connectivity to IOS system devices, and depending on the performance can vary according to the system.

Your control being up to date and your iPad too, may be Apple having to release some updates to this issue.

Hello again Joel, unfortunately Microsoft does not provide information on when it will have a new firmware update, however in insider programs after going through all the rings of the program they release an update.

Regarding compatibility with Apple, From what I see I do not believe that this is the part of Microsoft, because Bluetooth is a licensed technology and many use it, it seems Apple has the particular way of managing it on devices the same no longer happens on Android devices.

Yeah, the controller functions normally. It’s just that it has no “disconnect” option in settings unlike my other Bluetooth devices. The Xbox controller is officially supported by Apple (and has been for a few months/years) so I hope both Microsoft and Apple resolve this issue soon.
