Xbox Wireless Adapter on Windows 10 Code 10 error even with proper driver

I just bought an Xbox Wireless Adapter for Xbox One Controller for PC Windows 10 and cannot get it to work on my desktop. I plugged it into my laptop with Windows 10 and it worked immediately. But with my desktop it will download the proper driver and be
recognized but will not allow me to connect to it (lights won't turn on).

In the Control Panel it shows the option to troubleshoot but always restarts the computer with no fix.

In Device Manager it shows it under "Network Adapters" as "Xbox Wireless Adapter" except with a small yellow triangle on it.

I've tried downloading and installing the proper drivers from Microsoft's catalog page and they either won't install or will install the up to date driver but still give me a "Device won't start" Code 10 error.

I've even tried system restoring my PC to an old update to no avail.

    :)

  2. Xbox Wireless Adapter causes BSOD

This is not a generic Windows 10 error. This is an error with the driver for the Xbox One wireless adapter. I am sick of this. It is the responsibility of Microsoft to fix the driver for their device.

Noob question for all Xbox elite controller owning people.

If you buy the new wireless adapter, it will only work with windows 10. Unless there is a driver hidden away somewhere, it will not install on windows 7. I don't own 8.1 so I can't confirm.

    Xbox Wireless Adaptor driver conflicts

Hello It's O, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

Since the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows drivers are included in the Windows 10 operating system, the adapter should install automatically. If not, try the solutions:

Make sure your Windows 10 device is connected to the Internet.
Make sure your Windows 10 device is updating by going to Windows Update from your device and checking for available updates.
Restart your device and try again.
Make sure USB ports are not disabled in Device Manager.
Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.

Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have been partially installed. For this, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to carry out this process:
    Go to Device Manager.
Look for Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network Adapters section.
Click Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to open the Properties window.
    Click the Driver tab.
On the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button.
In the confirmation window, activate Remove the driver software for this device.
Disconnect the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and restart your Windows 10 device. When your device is back up and running, plug in the adapter.

    Best regards.
