Xbox wireless adapter for Windows 10 not working

    Xbox wireless adapter for Windows 10 not working


    Hello,

    I recently purchased a Wireless adapter for Windows 10, along with two wireless xbox controllers so that I could play games with my partner.

    These all work fine when I plug the wireless adapter directly into my PC in a USB 3.0 slot.

    However, my main display screen is across my apartment, around 50ft away from my PC. I have a 65-foot USB cord running from my PC to the same room as my display screen. The cord is USB 2.0, high speed extension/repeater cable.

    Unfortunately, when I plug the Wireless adapter into the extension cord, it no longer works. The light does not come on, the controllers no longer connect to it. On my PC's control panel, I see the Wireless adapter icon disappear and reappear constantly every few seconds. In the device manager, it also disappears and reappears every few seconds.

    The wireless controllers each individually work fine when plugged into the extension cord with a USB-C cable, and other devices work too, so I believe the extension cord is functioning well.

    I have Windows 10, up to date.

    Do you have any idea what the problem might be, or what I could do to troubleshoot further?

    Thanks for your answer, would like it to wireless but I can handle it :)

    Does all xbox one controller have an usb C port to be connected or some are wireless only ? (Sorry about all these questions but never had an xbox one controller between my hand)

    And I found 2 link on microsoft website about wireless connexion here they are, but in french (i'm on phone can't find them in English) but here's the translation of interesting parts :

    That's where I heard about the "old adaptator"

    And I just found this link :

    This is line 1, 2 and 3 of the table :

    So seems like there is 2 wireless adaptator and one of them seems to work on windows 7 but they don't precise if it's for xbow one or 360...sigh now you understand why i'm so lost, 3 versions of the controller, 2 different adaptator, many software update...I
    know the best is to switch to W10 but I never had a single problem on w7 and would like to keep it as long as possible.

    Yes, I am on windows 10 and using the original model of the Xbox One Windows 10 wireless adapter (the fat one).

    Yes, I have done all these steps with the wireless adapter as well, save for swapping it out for another one, which I don't have.
