Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 not showing up in Device Manager, not lighting up

Hey, as the title suggests, having an issue with my wireless adapter and slowly going mad because of it.

One day my wireless adapter started to have some issues. It would connect and disconnect rapidly to my PC, and eventually stay nice and properly connected despite me never unplugging it. A few weeks after that, it just straight up died. No light, nothing when I press the button, and device manager wouldn't show it as connected. I uninstalled the device from device manager and then reinstalled the driver, and still encountered the same issue. Finally I just uninstalled the device and wanted to see if windows even saw me plugging or unplugging it to no avail.

At this point, I have a belief that it's a hardware issue, but I wanted to post on here to see if anybody has any idea on what I should/could do to get it working, or if I just need to replace the poor thing.

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 not showing up in Device Manager, not lighting up

    Hello!

I'm an independent advisor and a member of the Xbox Community just like you.

I'm happy to help you today.

As you mention, if the device does not turn on and the device manager fails to detect it correctly, it is most likely a hardware problem, the only way to check it would be to test the adapter on another PC and identify if the exact same thing happens.

In case this is the case and the device is under warranty, you can apply for warranty through this link

    Greetings.

    Xbox Wireless Adaptor driver conflicts

Hello It's O, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

Since the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows drivers are included in the Windows 10 operating system, the adapter should install automatically. If not, try the solutions:

Make sure your Windows 10 device is connected to the Internet.
Make sure your Windows 10 device is updating by going to Windows Update from your device and checking for available updates.
Restart your device and try again.
Make sure USB ports are not disabled in Device Manager.
Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.

Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have been partially installed. For this, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to carry out this process:
    Go to Device Manager.
Look for Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network Adapters section.
Click Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to open the Properties window.
    Click the Driver tab.
On the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button.
In the confirmation window, activate Remove the driver software for this device.
Disconnect the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and restart your Windows 10 device. When your device is back up and running, plug in the adapter.

    Best regards.

    The adapter didn't auto-install

    • Ensure your USB ports are not disabled in your Device Manager.
    • Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.
    • Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have partially installed. To do so, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to complete this process:
      1. Go to your Device Manager.
      2. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.
      3. Click Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window.
      4. Click on the Driver tab.

      6. On the confirmation window, check Delete the driver software for this device.
      7. Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows 10 device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter.
