    Xbox Windows 11 wireless adapter - poor audio


    The Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is advertised as supporting passthrough audio with Xbox controllers. But the audio is of extremely poor quality, filled with static crackling and extreme loss of quality while gaming. I have tried 3 controllers (2 Series X controllers, 1 Xbox One controller), different batteries (New Duracells, the official Play and Charge battery, and rechargeable Energizers). I have tried these controllers and batteries on my PC and Xbox to verify that the controllers or batteries are not the problem. I have used the headset (HyperX Cloud II) with 0 issues using passthrough audio while the controllers are wired into my PC, and 0 issues when the headset is wired to the PC directly without passing through through controllers. The headset works perfectly with any controller/battery combination on the Series X and S consoles I have. Through the process of elimination, this official wireless adapter is the culprit behind the issue. I understand the drivers are built into Windows 10, which is up to date on my PC. Is there a software based fix for this? Did I get a defective unit? Or are they all like this and replacing it would be a waste of time?

    Hello KirkLowe, have you tried uninstalling bluetooth drivers and also from the PC sound card, I've seen some similar reports in the community about this, and the ones can make some difference.

    Same issue here. Only occurs while gaming, in certain scenarios (typically at the start of a new game while assets are loading).

    Same issue here. I've scoured Reddit and other forums and haven't seen a fix yet. The headset works fine on Bluetooth and when connected via USB-C, but while using the official Xbox Wireless Adapter (the slim one), I get garbled and choppy audio in both games and general Windows audio such as Zoom meetings.

    I'm using the headset on Windows 10 with headset firmware v.0.0.9.24 as of 11/15/2021.

    Super simple just figured it out on windows 11.

    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.
    3. Select Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows to bring up the Properties window.
    4. Click on Power Management and then uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
