Xbox will not display on my Xbox Companion App to stream

Hi. I cannot stream my Xbox on my laptop using the Companion app. I have used this previously with no issuesm however, I cannot even find my Xbox on my app when i press the connection button.

I have tried all the obvious settings in the guides and turning both on and off... Any ideas?

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to answer that.

Unfortunately you cannot plug in the Xbox One into your laptop and use the laptop as a display. Also there is no app or program that would convert the HDMI port on your laptop to an input source rather than an output source.

Your only option would be to use the game streaming through the Xbox Console Companion app. I would re over these two support articles on how to improve streaming:

The HDMI connection on a laptop is usually an HDMI out connection, meaning it can connect to another display, but not become another display.

The only way you could use the laptop as a display for your Xbox, is to stream the game from your Xbox, by using the Xbox Console Companion app on your laptop.

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is a question with streaming from Xbox to PC. I recommend to try the following article: Troubleshooting
Xbox Console Companion app game streaming on Windows 10.

Make sure the console and PC are connected to the same network.

Give this a try and let us know the results.

I have this problem sometimes when I have been streaming my console to the pc without any problems suddenly it stops working.

I click remove next to the console on the streaming page and do a hard reset on my xbox and shut down my pc.

I then boot up my pc and turn my xbox on and search for the xbox on my pc on the streaming page of the companion app. This normally works for me.

Hey man I’m not sure if it’s all related, but I have a suspicion that it’s connected. Xbox Support posted about an hour ago on Twitter, stating they are investigating reports of not being able to stream on the console. And I think if you’re using the Companion
app it might be affecting you, too.

So don’t go mad trying to figure it out. Hopefully the MS team will have it sorted quickly. I’ve been trying to stay up-to-date on Twitter via their official Xbox Support page.
