Xbox virus: console stuck on dashboard - constantly scrolling left, regardless of controller

After browsing the web on IE, a set of crazy pop-up ads started popping up in tabs. I closed all tabs, restarted IE, then reset my console.

After I turned it back on, I have been plagued by constant scrolling of all controls, as if the controller has been hijacked to permanently scroll left and simultanesly press the home button, over and over non stop.

I have tried 3 different xbox one controllers, 4 hard resets but im immobile i cant actually reset cache or do anything other than nothing.

Please help - i think its a virus. If so, what should i do about it?

It isnt in warranty so dont bother suggesting a $150 bs fee, im not paying it. Please provide a clear and simple solution. Thankyou.

    :)

Xbox one controller won't fully sync.

    hi,

i have bought a new controller for my xbox and thought i had sync'd it correctly and had played a game earlier. I have turned it back on again and the controller appears to not be sync'd correctly. Some buttons work however the analog joysticks don't work
and the dpad is constantly scrolling left.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

    Hey, FusionMaple!

I'm sorry to see any issues with your console! I understand you're immobile, however we only have the small amount of options available. Because a lot of these include touching the console, it may be best to have a friend or family member help you resolve
    this.

First, you can try to factory reset your console using the Start up Troubleshooter built into the console. This requires a few button sequences on the console itself, which I've got below for you.

    1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
    2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
    4. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.
    5. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
We sometimes suggest waiting until after the third power-up tone, if the second one doesn't work.

If done properly, you can select "Reset this Xbox", and I would suggest resetting it completely (including games and apps). This is to ensure everything is off the console. That should get you sorted out.

However, if that doesn't work (either with pulling up the menu or the reset), your console would need to be either repaired or replaced. Hopefully this does help you out, though.

Please keep me updated on the situation! I'll make sure you're pointed in the right direction if you need further assistance. Xbox virus: console stuck on dashboard - constantly scrolling left, regardless of controller :)

    Phantom Controller Issue

Ok silly question time, have you had any friends around who synced their controllers to your console ? Could it be that they left the controller somewhere in your property and it's in a position where it is constantly having the guide button pressed, maybe
laying under a cushion or something. Or even one of your controllers guide buttons is stuck in ?

Sorry for all the questions !!

XBOX One Dashboard Auto-Scrolling to Right

Just came across the dashboard scrolling to the right problem today. I tried all the shut downs and restarts but nothing helped. For two hours, frustrated. Then it hit me. Everything was working fine until I dropped my controller. I inspected my
controller and found the RB button was pushed down. Stuck when it fell, therefore causing the mystery malfunction. Popped it back out and now it works just like normal. No more scrolling. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much that fixed my problem. I thought my xbox was broke because I tried all the system restarts and everything and it was just my left bumper stuck down 😆😆😆
