Xbox video playback freezing every 5 to 10 seconds

Do you have menu sounds enabled for xbmc. Try playing an audio file in the background and see if it doesn't freeze.

It's been suggested by quite a few that if the xbox doesn't get audio about every 10 seconds from the input device, it freezes the video. I presume this was to avoid processing the signal if the device was off, or something....

Im signed in fine. But is anyone having issues with it freezing after like a min every time. And then the app becomes mad slow! I force close it. Reopen etc. Then it freezes mid game or mid video playback or mid redzone channel... over and over again. And
its not my internet. Trust me.

I have this issue with the playback error 5005 on Hulu + when Im playing a tv show it happens just every show that last 5-10 mins of it.

Supported File Types

The Xbox 360 supports AVI, WMV, MPEG-4 Part 2, H.264 and QuickTime movie formats. The file extensions included are as follows: .avi, .divx, .wmv, .mp4, .m4v, .mp4v, and .mov.

Video Playback

For video files with the WMV container, playback occurs at 15 Mbps (Mega-Bytes Per Second) with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Files with the H.264 container have the same resolution, but are played back at 10 Mbps. For AVI and MPEG-4 Part 2 video files, playback
is 5 Mbps at 1280 x 720 resolution.

Audio Playback

The Xbox 360 supports WMA 7-9 and Lossless audio profiles for WMV video formats. Dolby Digital and MP3 profiles are supported in AVI formats. For MPEG-4 Part 2 and H.264 encoded videos, the console supports only two-channel AAC audio encoding.

Streaming Video

With Zune software, the Xbox 360 can stream unprotected AVI, MPEG-4 Part 2, H.264, and WMV video formats. Through Windows Media Player, protected and unprotected WMV videos can be streamed.

Streaming Tips

Download a third-party video codec package to expand the amount of video formats you can stream using the Windows Media Player. For better playback, convert video files into the more Mircosoft user-friendly WMV format using a third-party video conversion
program.

Yes, Xbox 360 , Netflix, Amazon, Crackle, Hulu are the apps I use and they have been freezing/locking the system for over well a month now. Cannot turn off the console when this happens, must wait until its ready to turn off. Then restarts fine.

I have gone through the many steps it takes to try and remedy the situation. Bottom line. All other "Devices" stream apps just fine without any lock ups or glitches.

I have even replaced the console and the replacement as well is suffering the lag/lockup issues.

As one of many others, we have cut the cord from the cable company having to look to replacing the xbox console with another Device just to play apps, well, it's a bummer.

I hope that this issue will be resolved soon. Good lucks to all those IT/ Tech/Support people.
