Xbox Upload - Xbox Turning Into Social Media

I have an issue with the way everything is with the sharing, following, liking part of Xbox One social side. Before anyone goes of at me, I once created videos and got a little known from it but have recently quit doing so, but i quit because of many reasons.

People are creating videos and sharing them and getting followers and becoming ''known''. They beg for you to add them and they don't add you back.. Because they would like to look like there famous and people follow them because they are fans.

People spam all the time ''MTARP''(Message to all recent players) PLEASE FOLLOW ME, I CREATE VIDEOS BLAH BLAH BLAH) And it's even to the point if you do like someones video, someone will find you from that and message you to follow them and like there videos!

It's turning into ''How many followers you have is how cool you are'' instead of enjoying games and not worrying about getting famous.

I miss how Xbox One originally was without all the begging for followers, people thinking there better because they get 50 likes on a video from asking people to like it.

I personally think Xbox should limit how many ''followers'' you can get to solve this issue. And maybe limit how many post per day you can do. Oh and also limit how many messages you can send out a day!

Many people agree with me on this. So please consider this option...

They seem to freggin concerned with making the Xbox into a TV/social media platform instead of nailing down the core purpose of the system, gaming.

 

Again, just play your game and stop worrying about what other people are doing.

 

Can't say i've ever been asked to follow anybody...

 

If so many people agree with you then why are you afraid to post it under your actual gamertag?

I agree with you to a degree as I've had followers and the occaisional friend begging me for likes.

Not really too bad though.

Far more annoying are game play videos where there are commentators carrying on as if they're calling an NBA game or something.

 

Says the person using an account with no Xbox One games on it....That either means you don't have the console, or it's more likely that do own the console, but you don't want to stand behind your own statement by hiding behind
a secondary account.

I really don't know how you could lack the ability to ignore these messages. Just keep playing your games.

 

OP only console dosen't is the Wii U. But that has no hardcore games to played with at all.

I have a better idea - ignore such messages! Perhaps report it as spam.

 

would people PLEASE stop whining about the Social Parts of Xbox Live? Social Gaming is the future. Steam showed that.

a few tips:

BLOCK the senders

REPORT senders for spam

IGNORE spam message

STOP demanding a useful feature is removed because you are annoyed by it.

 

I agree with most here.

It's not about status it's just a social feature. When I get a sub for sub request on YouTube, or a social game request on Facebook, or invited for coffee at a Starbucks... I can either accept and sub back, join the game, or go for coffee... or not subscribe,
block game requests, and refuse to go for coffee. Heh.

"Pfft. Starbucks? Why? Do you want people to see you in there or something? Is it like a status thing?"

"Nope. S'just coffee [followers/subscribers/social gaming/achievements] dude."

As Owen said, stop worrying about what other people are doing, and avert your sensitive eyes. All the options you need to mitigate spam and social requests exist already -- features don't have to be removed or nerfed just because you don't use them. lol

I'd just ignore them.

I don't see a big problem with it. It shouldn't be hard to ignore someone. If they send you a message, delete it.

I kind of like the social features myself, as I'm sure I'd be sharing videos, but I wouldn't be going around like the people you speak of. I'm too lazy to type out messages. lol

 

Unfortunately no matter what policies, features and tools are out there these people are going to exploit whatever it is to stand out. They've existed even before and in other spaces than video games. The platforms they use are the same platforms we use
to connect with out real friends so there's no getting rid of it without limiting the people who don't abuse such things.
