why would you not want the up to date software? You do have the option in settings, system, updates to choose how your xbox handles system, games and apps updates.

If not wanting to participate in the preview program anymore you can use the preview dashboard app to unenroll yourself from the program.

Just start the app, go to registrations and change the status of your console there.

Please be aware that your unenrolling will be pending until the current wave gets public as you cannot be released during a rolling wave. So once the October preview is rolled out finally you will then be unenrolled from the preview program.

I believe it has to do with the way the Xbox wraps the update in to the main install. If you don't have room or don't want to update immediately I would just pause the update.

The Xbox one update preview is basicly beta. A few bugs or issues my appear in the preview update if the headset worked before your boyfriend accepted the invite, you may want to consider to post the bug on the Xbox One preview update forum and too leave
the preview updates as it is un-stable because it's beta.
