Xbox update has broken my console...twice!

Hi, when I installed the February system update my Kinect bricked within 12 hours, Xbox support very helpfully sent me a new Kinect and all was sorted. On Saturday I installed the March update and the whole console bricked within 12 hours, completely and
utterly dead! Wondering if anyone else has had issues with the most recent updates?

Thankfully Amazon have sent a new console out immediately and it came today (Sunday)

    :)

  2. GTA Online Launches..?

It's broken on the PS3, I haven't been able to experience anything online. Not only that, it has deleted my profile twice! Just to make things worse the update has also broken my story mode so there are no missions available after "Surveying the Score"

  3. NEW X BOX LIVE DASH UPDATE!!

I got the update earlier. It downloaded/applied the update twice and restarted my console twice, before finally downloading the actual update. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes.

When the console switch off during the update, I was a bit surprised, I thought it broke the Xbox or something, but all is fine.

However I have noticed that when I don't have a disc in the drive and switch it on, it rumbles quite a lot. (Different noise than the disc reading, when booting a game)

    XBOX update has broken console

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    - Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

    - Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

    - Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

    - Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    - Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

    - The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

If your console doesn't have an Eject button, you can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    - Once you see the Startup Troubleshooter, select Factory Reset and then choose "Keep Games and Apps"

    - Once the Reset is complete, you'll be prompted to sign into your console using your Microsoft account credentials, after which you'll choose your preferred settings and your console should display normally again.

NB: A factory reset keeping games and apps will not delete your game saves as they are backed up in the cloud and will resync once you've signed in.

    Hope this helps.

    Jesse.

    XBOX update has broken console

    Hello Spddy3

Try to press and hold the BIND button and the EJECT button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

You will see a screen with 4 options, select ''reset'' and then ''keeping games and app. You won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account once again.

Make sure you know the password and email address!

    Update has broken my xbox.

As a heads up, my 360 is a launch version and like you, all I have ever done over the years is upgrade the hard drive. I didn't have any problems with the update though. Try taking the hard drive off and starting the 360 to see if it boots up. If it does
boot up, turn off the 360, reattach the hard drive and see if it again will boot up. If it doesn't boot, it's safe to say the issue is somewhere with the hard drive.

    Update has broken my xbox.

    RE: Philonius

Great bit of advise there mate. I've simply unpluged the HD and it booted up fine. Plugged the HD back in and its launching to the dashboard!

I can now get some gaming in after the Arsenal game.

    Cheers mate
