Xbox update error

Hey, One Saotome! Thanks for the information. Sounds like that acquaintance's 4GB console needs to be repaired. I have a feeling if you went to format that internal memory, it wouldn't wipe properly or would say unformatted when you did. The 4GB are the
only S and E models that have those internal storage. The ones that don't have the 4GB inside and require you to have a hard drive will not work without said hard drives, and you can save updates to formatted USB flash drives on those. Hope that helps clear
things up a bit!

Nebruchadnezzar, I appreciate that clarification! With that being the case, instead of trying to update directly to your hard drive, can you unplug it and try to do the update to a newly formatted USB flash drive on there? Let me know if that works for you.

 

No luck with downloading to the flash drive either, and i'm greeted with the error code of: 4174-417F-1680-267F-C000-0185.

 

No luck with the Disc Update either, i'm only getting the same error with the third set of numbers replaced with 1900. Is this even a problem with my Xbox or is this something with the update itself?

 

Thanks for trying for me, Nebruchadnezzar! With that being the case, and the original error code you were receiving, your console may need to be repaired. I wanted to see if we could get it working since most others were able to get the system update by
doing the offline update. I am very sorry to see that we were unable to get yours sorted out.

It's cheaper to set up the repair on our Online Service Center, however you can
contact us via phone or chat to get direct help setting it up. I do hope that resolves it for you! Keep me updated on the resolution for that.

 

One Saotome i'm on to the same thing and i'm thinking of tearing out the internal 4gb altogether, have you made any progress?

 

I am seeing the same issue as well. Same error codes even after following everything in this thread. Not a great update experience

I started a thread and posted on many threads with the similar symptoms and this is the only thread regarding this issue that has had a response from support, I have also attempted every procedure in the book to move past this and what i have noticed is
the internal 4gb memory will not format and does not have enough space to install the update so im stuck in an endless loop. The solution that is being offered is send the unit in for repair which costs money and is an unacceptable solution to be honest.
I would like it if someone from tech support can chime in with the answer of what the problem with the units regarding the memory and maybe even let someone like me know if i take out the internal 4gb will the console function normally with only the hard drive?
Or even easier let my live account connect if i decline the update.

This is not the first time this has happened but this is the longest i have had to wait for a problem like this to be corrected.

hi somebody can help me with this error 4174-417F-2780-0F00-C000-0034 I get the update and then when it was installing it get frozen and send that error status

 

Hey, MIST. I am sorry to see that your 4GB console won't format. The unfortunate news is that the only thing you can do is a repair. If you would like to speak to our phone support, you can
contact us via phone support so that they can help you out with that repair. When the hard drive isn't formatting anymore, it's exactly the same as if your computer hard drive wouldn't format anymore. In those
cases, you generally buy a new hard drive so that it works; this case you will need to set up a repair through us to get it working again.

This is unfreakin believable and unacceptable. You post these updates as being free; and from what I can see we are all needing to send in our units for repair? And now that repair is going to cost us, where is the "free" in that? Where is your responsibility
to us the consumer?

So now I'm left to explain to my kid that I'm sorry you trusted the update and now your console is broken and you can't play.

I haven't played my xbox 360 for a while. I took it to the retail store and they can't help me.

 

I'm having the same issue with a different error code. I don't know what to do. Tried all solutions to no avail. Have over 1GB of storage remaining on internal storage (I use USB sticks for all downloaded games) and still no luck. I don't know if this
is relevant, but I got the message that I was eligible for the "360 Preview Program" and I checked that box to do that, and since then, this is when that happened. But honestly, that also coincided with the new update date of April 30. So I don't know if
it's that, or just the new update.

 

Guys, I have the same issue described above. Downloaded system update to USB drive (XBOX 16GB). XBOX system recognizes the system update on USB flash drive. XBOX tried to perform update then greeted with error code 417F-43C51600-267F-C000-0185.

Is there another solution? Or should I send the unit in for repair?
