Xbox update error

Whenever i try to install the recent update I get a message saying that my xbox cannot process the update and then the following status code: 4174-417f-1380-267f-c000-007f. I've seen multiple other posts about this and it seems the only way to get it fixed
is to send it in to get repaired, are there any fixes anyone knows to work that could help in saving some time and money?

I would contact Xbox Support if I was you and see how long for a patch if not return it to Game.

Think xbox live is down I'm getting same error. Service status timed at 22:18 says check back in 30 mins for update

The error seemed to have been replaced with another one, with the following status code:4174-417f-1380-267F-C000-0185, I also forgot to add this, I am on the Xbox 360 original console, not the Xbox One, just to clear things up.

Whenever I click the link, it simply directs me toward the general update error page, so if by offline update you mean downloading the update and putting it onto a usb drive or disc, then yes, I did try this with no success, only a seperate error code: 4174-417F-1600-267F-C000-0185

 

Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about! Sorry for not being clear on that.

Before you installed the new update, did you remove the previous one first? You'll want to go to your storage and do this button sequence:

LB RB X LB RB X

It will pop up saying that it's going to remove any system update currently on there. Then you will want to update via USB after that. Also make sure that your USB is formatted the way listed on our
Xbox 360 USB Flash Drive support page.

Hopefully doing it in that order will help you out! Please keep me updated on how it works out.

 

Unfortunately I had no success with this either, I still get the same error message.

 

I have the same issue. There must be another option rather then sending the device in for service.

 

Well then. This is weird. What type of console do you have, Nebruchadnezzar?

McPixel19, what error code are you getting with your failed update? And have you tried the above suggestions?

I manage servers for a living and I've noticed something about this update issue everyone seems to have. Working on an acquaintance's xbox360 slim, it cannot take the update. The slim is a 4GB model with a newer 320GB drive. The 320GB drive works normally,
meaning I can create a gamer profile on it and delete it. Taking the 320GB out, I try to create a gamer profile on the internal 4GB. Let's face it, it really is just 2.3GB usable. Anyway, as soon as I enter the gamertag and select done on the onscreen keyboard,
it comes back to the same gamertag entry screen as before, like it didn't accept it. I can't write to the internal memory. To reinforce my theory I had found out that this xbox had the family settings turned on. I asked the guy the controller button sequence
and entered it in. I then competely turned off family settings and saved it. I power cycled the Xbox and went back to family settings. They were on again like I had never touched it.

My theory on the issue is this. Something changed the internal storage to read only. That is why I cannot change the current family settings or create a new profile on the internal storage. If I popped the 320GB drive back in I can mess with stuff on THAT
drive to my hearts content. Since system updates write over existing firmware, and I assume that the system lives on the internal storage (shared with the advertised 4GB space or not)

It could even be that the internal storage has reached its maximum write cycles since my own daughter has my old xbox360 250GB slim and does not have this issue. She's currently playing Minecraft.
