Xbox uninstalled the whole game just to do an update

Hi,

my xbox uninstalled all of rainbow six siege for the new year 4 update.

Normally the game would say you have to update the game before playing. But then i clicked on it, it said i have to reinstall the whole game to play it?!

I thought at first ‘ahh yeah they changed the settings to the main game meaning ill have to reinstall all of it,’ then i asked my freinds and NONE of them have to re download it.

Power cycle, does not work

Changing the hard drive, does not work

please do not say either of these, especially power cycle... DOES NOT WORK

something is wrong with xbox and not the game

If you, or forcsome reason the xboz, cancels a game update the game will be deleted as a whole.

Sometimes during a game update you can mistakenly delete the entire game while trying to pause or cancel the update.

Same here.

Every time I turn on my console I check for game updates because I unplug my console each night and I had to reinstall AC Odysee. I haven't even played it yet lol. I definitely didn't stop a download or delete anything. It straight up deleted the game and
like I said, I haven't even played it yet.

It didn't bother me as I'm not planning on playing for a while but if it was my current game I'd be upset.

Unfortunately, if the update has proceeded too far to be able to just back it off then the whole games has to be uninstalled if the update is canceled.

This answer does not address or clarify the reasoning of having to re download the entire game for a small update. I am having the same problem and am having to download the entire game for an update that stated it was less than 1gb.
