Xbox Unable to Reset/Frozen on Update

So I first got the “black screen of death” a couple months ago and I realized I had to do a reset on my xbox one s.

But when I open up the troubleshooting menu and click on the reset function my xbox freezes (it also freezes at every other command on the troubleshooting screen) and has to be restarted for me to try the process again, always resulting the same way. I finally tried to update my xbox using a usb as I figured that might help, but now my xbox is frozen during the update, on the “preparing console” screen at 0%.

I’ve looked for solutions to this issue but everything points to me needing to reset my xbox, which is what I was unable to do in the first place. Is my xbox completely broken or could there be a fixable issue with the hardware? Do I just have to keep doing this over and over hoping for it to work once?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

For cases like this, you're correct that the reset is the resolution. If resetting the Xbox keeping games and apps didn't work, resetting the Xbox removing everything will be the last resort.

Kindly try this again and make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox".

If that didn't work, I apologize but it would be best to get the console repaired.

Xbox completely frozen now, took 2 hours and 5 hard resets to update Microsoft store(?). Now nothing anymore..

So my Xbox one is frozen on the update screen 66% updated. I let it sit for 2 days then i. Download the update manually for a offline update. It updated just fine once all the way to 100% then it started to update again then it stopped at 66% again. Any
ideas before i download the factory reset program?

If Xbox live is up and running on support.xbox.com then try to reset the cache on your Xbox One console by following these steps. If your console is frozen, perform a hard reset by following the instructions in the note.

1.Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.

2.Select Settings.

3.Select Restart console.

4.Select Yes to confirm.

Note If you're unable to access the guide or if the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.

Happens to me too. Every time i start the console it is frozen and I have to turn it off and make a hard reset. I was supposing the reason is the last update. Shouldn`t we expect an update in February?
