Xbox turns on but TV stays blank

I recently went to turn on my xbox for the first time in a week and found that the xbox turned on but the TV screen stayed blank. I've tried using different HTMI cables and trying different ports but this has had no effect. Additionally, I have tried waiting 10 minutes on the blank screen but nothing happens. Finally, I tried doing a hard turn off and unplugging the power for 5 minutes and then restarting in low resolution mode but this also had no effect on the problem. I've only had this xbox for a few years so it's disappointing it's already acting up.

Hi Pam,

I'm just experiencing issues still once I get up to the updating stage, with the console updating freezing once it gets to 43% on the second update of 3. Just wondering if there are any ways around this issue?

Hi Pam,

Thanks heaps for the tips on how to get it to work, just wondering what to do once I get to the troubleshoot menu? There is an option to reset the xbox or turn it off, I'm assuming I should reset? I'll wait for a response just in case.

Hi! My name is Pam. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in. Press and hold the SYNC button and the EJECT button, and then press the Xbox button on the console. Continue holding the SYNC and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the SYNC and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

You can also try a different TV. That's really worth a shot.
