    Xbox turns my TV on after I turn of TV and Cable box


    This has started last week.

    Up until last week I would keep my Xbox1 on all the time and just turn off my TV and Cable box. Then last week I would turn off my TV and Cable box as usual and when I would walk back into my living room the TV would be back on and the Xbox home screen with
    nobody signed in (the interface is green, my interface is orange, my son's is yellow).

    When I turned off the TV the interface was on my profile but after turning off ONLY the TV and cable box. The TV would turn back on 5 minutes later with the default green interface.

    Outside of deprogramming the Xbox to not being able to turn on of off my TV is there anything I can do or is this a know bug that will be fix in a later update?

    If I setup my Xbox one to control my TV and my cable box it will work just fine, it will turn on and turn off the cable box and my TV. My TV is a Samsung and my Cable is Dish Network Hopper. Sometimes though when I turn on my xbox the TV and the cable
    box will not turn on. So I will turn them on manually. However when I do turn them on the TV does not show in the TV app, it just shows the icon of the TV and tells me "TV app took to long to launch". Then I turn off the Xbox and it again doesn't turn off
    the TV or the cable box, so then I will hold the front xbox button for 10 seconds or unplug it all together, and then it all works just fine again, like nothing ever happened. Anyone know what this is all about?

    Issues with TV and "Xbox on"

    Yeah, if I manually turn on the reciever, cable box and tv first, then turn on the xbox everything is cool, but if the tv gets turned on with the xbox by voice command or turned on after the xbox is on I get the intermittent blinking. Not a gigantic issue
    but still a pain in the @$$.

    Question: Will any HDMI cable work for the Xbox One?

    I have a question on this one, I run everything (cable box and sound through the xbox one, I switched to a best buy (magnolia certified) HDMI cable as I now have my components and equipment in a cabinet to the side of the TV. I use the "Xbox on" and "Xbox
    turn off" features so when it turns on everything should turn on, my TV and sound bar should turn on, now that I have switched the setup the "xbox on/off" voice commands still work but turning the TV and sound bar on and off does not. I noticed the standard
    HDMI cable that direct tv supplies still powers on the set top box. Should I be having these issues?

    I love watching my TV through my Xbox. The OneGuide is a much better interface than the one my cable box provides, and voice commands through Kinect are INCREDIBLE. The fact that I can sit down, say "Xbox On", "Watch TV" and "Watch ESPN", and my Xbox has
    turned on the TV, turned on the cable box, and changed the channel to ESPN without me touching anything is awesome. Use it everyday.

    Can someone explain HDMI passthrough to me?

    I am not sure why so many people have reservations to turning on the One to watch TV. Use Instant On mode and its on in ten seconds and "Xbox On" can turn on your console, cable box and tv! Its easier than having to turn the TV and cable box on separately!
    And the console is designed to be always on for ten years! I don't get the argument that you don't want it on when watching TV.

    Your xbox needs to be on for tv. It was built to be on for 10 years.....take them up on their offer.
