    Xbox turning on tv that’s not connected


    I have a Toshiba TV in my room and a dell monitor and i have my xbox 360 and nintendo switch connected to the tv and the xbox one connected to my monitor. If i turn on my xbox one, the tv turns on everytime and it’s annoying and i’m confused why it’s happening since it’s not connected by hdmi.

    Are you sure it's the 360 console turning on/off and not just the TV? If it's the TV, it's probable that the IR blasting that your Xbox One is doing to turn off its connected TV is also reaching the second TV and turning that one on and off.

    I understand you need help on your Xbox console problem.

    This should not be the case if the Xbox is not connected to your TV through HDMI because they cannot be remotely connected with each other.

    Make sure to check both cables from your consoles and see if they are not being interchanged.

    Or you may do a reset on your Xbox One to see if this helps:

    NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

    No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    2. Select Settings.

    3. Select System.

    4. Select Console info

    5. Select Reset console.

    6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

    This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

    • Confirm that both your TV and Xbox One console are turned on
    • Check that your TV is set to the correct input signal (HDMI)
    • Check that the HDMI cable connections to your console and to your TV are secure
    • Check that the HDMI cable is connected to the "out to TV" port on the console
    • Try plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV
    • Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV
    • Try connecting your console to a different TV
    • Power cycle your Xbox One: Press and hold the Xbox button  for 10 seconds to turn off the console, and then turn it on again

    Is your TV connected via wifi as well? I'm thinking there is a relationship between your TV's wireless connectivity and the Xbox. Could you try turning off the wifi adapter on the TV and see if your console is then able to connect?
