    Xbox turning on & off cable box issue


    Recently my xbox has been having issues turning on and off my cable box. When I shut the system off it will turn it off, but then when i turn the system back on it will turn the cable box on then off again. Is anyone else having this problem. Please help,
    I have reset my xbox and reset my cable box.

    power on turns on tv but not xfinity cable box

    hi,

    i have a xfinity rng 110 cable box from comcast.

    in the xbox settings it is set to turn on my devices and turn off tv and cable box.

    turning xbox on turns on my tv, but not my cable box.

    turning off works fine with tv and cable box.

    switching channels and volume controll works fine, so everything works, only turning on my cable box does not work

    i already exchanged my console, my kinect and my cable box, same issue.

    i already put my kinect in front of my cable box, same issue.

    i bought an ir cable and pluged it in the back of my xbox, same issue.

    any help greatly appreciated!

    Cable box "Xbox On/Off" is moody.

    After some more testing in a session of turning Xbox on/off via voice command, the cable box turns on more often than off. (ie, the power signal sent from Kinect is more successful with "Xbox On").

    I'll try adjusting the cable box location to see if line-of-sight is the issue.

    Are you part of the update test program? They are, i believe, working on power issues regarding devices.

    Yes I am part of the update testers, but that was not causing the issue. My TV came with an external IR blaster that you would plug into it, capable of turning on all my devices (just like the xbox). Well I guess when I would turn on my xbox, the signal
    was sent to all my devices (TV, Cable Box & Sound Bar), as well as the external IR blaster. so everything would turn on from the xbox, and when the external IR blaster got the signal it would send out a second signal, but it would only turn off the cable box.
    I guess it wasn't strong enough for the TV, sound bar or to actually turn the xbox back off haha. O well the problem is resolved, I have unplugged the external IR blaster.

    @StudBucket33........thanks! I checked the box for turn off cable box, then it shut it off when I turned off the console AND now it turns on the cable box when I turn on the console.

    Xbox One IR Blaster commands

    Hi there,

    I too am interested in this: the XB1 should send discrete power On and Off commands, not simply power toggle. What's the latest news on this issue?

    Also, I have a few suggestions for the Xbox One Developers/Team:

    1) Assuming XB1 is in Instant-On mode, saying "Xbox On" should turn on the console only. Saying "Xbox Everything On" or "Xbox All On" should turn on everything (XB1 console, TV, cable/set-top box, A/V receiver, etc.). Similarly for Off.

    2) Using the controller, pressing the Xbox button (or holding the Xbox button for a short time--e.g., 1 sec) should turn on XB1 console only. Holding the Xbox button for a longer time (e.g., 3 secs) should cause everything to turn on (e.g., XB1 console,
    TV, cable/set-top box, AVR, etc.). When holding the Xbox button to turn off, there should be three options: turn off console, turn off controller, or turn everything off (e.g., console, TV, box, AVR, controller, etc.)

    3) Perhaps, there should also be separate commands for turning on or off each individual device. For example "Xbox TV turn on" and "Xbox TV turn off"; "Xbox Cable Box turn on" and "Xbox Cable Box turn off"; "Xbox, AVR turn on" and "Xbox, AVR turn off", etc.
