Xbox turning itself off randomly

hey guys, my Xbox has started playing up. I turn it on, and after a short amount of time it makes the little power off noise followed by shutting down 2-3 seconds later. It seems to be at random points, sometimes it happens whilst the green Xbox one screen
appears straight after turning it on, other times I have chance to launch a game or app for few moments before it does it. Sometimes I can even load a saved game, but never stays on long enough to actually play it.

Every once in a while it will stay on long enough for me to actually play for around half an hour before it shuts itself down, but this is rare.

I've also noticed when the Xbox is not in use, it will occasionally make the power on noise without me turning it on. It's just the noise though it doesn't actually turn on.

Tried to use it without a controller connected in case it's my controller sending the power off signal, but the problem remains with or without a controller connected.

Any ideas?

xbox one turns self on and cuts self off randomly

I've had my xbox one for a while. I have been having an issue with my system randomly cutting itself on and randomly cutting itself off. As for it cutting itself off .... sometimes its just after 5 seconds from turning it on to 30 or so minutes or even 2
- 3 hours.

Console turns ON and OFF by itself

My 250 gig Slim console is also randomly turning itself off and resetting the display options...

Hey there,

Thanks for posting! That definitely sounds odd. Could you try these steps out and let us know if that helps? Also, if you happen to be in the preview program, please be sure to report using the feedback app and check into the

Xbox Insider forums for further information and assistance.

Press and hold the power button until your Xbox One fully powers down.

Remove power from the back and let it sit for 3 minutes. If you have an original Xbox One console, try wiping down the front with a microfiber cloth where the buttons are.

After 3 minutes pass, plug everything back and boot it back up to see if similar issues occur.

thank you for the reply... tries the steps in the guide and there was no difference in operation.. I even left it totally unplugged for an entire day, plugged it back in and got about 10 minutes of gameplay in before it shut off all by itself, then a couple
mins later it turned itself back on, then back off, and back on again.... what's wrong with my Xbox?

It sounds like there could be an issue with either the console or power supply. If the steps in the guide didn't help, it's best to contact our chat/phone teams. The console may need to be serviced and they would be able to look into the warranty status

Oh and ours also randomly turns itself on as well. Turned off with the controller and was just sitting on the couch and the Xbox just turns on, no noises going on and the remote is still off. Creepy.
