    Xbox trigger malfunction

So I've had my Xbox controller for a bit over a year now. And as of recently it has started to go a bit bad. There's stick drift in both my joysticks and then now there's a new issue that is super annoying. Whenever I move my right joystick to go up, my left trigger is activated as well.

    :)

Hello, how are you? Hope you're well. My name is Mateus. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Unfortunately, this is apparently a hardware issue, so you would need to take it in for a repair or replacement of the defective part of the controller. In some cases Microsoft supports out-of-warranty devices, however, you would need to pay the repair cost, see more about this in the link below, please.

    https://support.xbox.com/en-us/help/hardware-ne...

    - There are videos on the internet too where technicians teach you how to fix the control in your own home, but I don't suggest you do this, as this can damage your control even more.

*Thank you in advance for contacting the community, I hope this can help you. Let me know if you have more questions, please.

    Right trigger malfunctioning

If the controller is still under guarantee and has has not been dropped or damaged you could send it for repair.

If not under guarantee you can request and exchange/repair of your current controller but the price difference between this and a new controller you could just purchase a new one and keep this one for a spare or when you have friends around.

Yup, it hasn't been damaged at all, I never let it fall on the floor, drench in water and what not.

I've had it for like 3 months. Should I contact my local retailer or microsoft themselves? Thanks for answering my question.

    Pro controller trigger malfunction

    Hi forzone,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your controller. When you mentioned "Pro controller", are you referring to Xbox Elite 2 controller?

As part of our initial troubleshooting, please power cycle your controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on. You can also reset your Xbox Elite 2 controller to its default settings using the Xbox Accessories app.

    Open the Xbox Accessories app

    Select your controller

    Select Configure

    Choose a profile

    Select Edit

    Select Restore to default

In addition, kindly make sure that you have the latest firmware updates installed:

Connect the controller directly to your console or Windows device using a USB-C cable

If the controller works properly with a cable connection, continue to the next step.

If your controller turns on when connected with a cable, try updating the controller firmware:

On a Windows PC, you can do this by installing the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store, and then connecting the controller while the app is open.

On an Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets. Select “…” under the controller that you're troubleshooting to check the firmware status.

If you're unable to update your controller, visit:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/...

Another tip is to clean your controller

Dust and debris can build up inside the controller and affect the electrical components. You can try cleaning the controller with isopropyl alcohol, cotton buds, and a hair dryer.

If you've updated the firmware, tried the reset the controller but the RB is still not working, then your controller needs to be replaced. If it's 2 months old, it should still be covered by warranty. To set up a replacement order, go to:

    Regards,

    Alvaro
