  1. Xbox taking forever to start up

Hello. Recently, I have been having issues when starting it up. It turns on okay, but it gets to the "Xbox 360" popup thing, and sits there for 20 minutes to boot up. Also, whenever I finally get to the dashboard, it tells me that I need to update my system,
but then says that I have no space on my hard drive (I have a 250GB HDD with around 110GBs free). I have tried reformatting the HDD, but to no avail. Every time I boot up my Xbox it does this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Also, the error message doesn't stay up long enough for me to read it and then the screen turns black. I can use the xbox button, but as soon as I select something, the system freezes.

    Hey there Mr Doggin!

I'm sorry to hear about the update issues. Let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

To start things off, here's a few questions to help us better understand the situation:

    1. Are you able to access your dashboard at all?
    2. Does the prompt for the update appear as soon as your console is turned on?
    3. Does it still give you the black screen if you decline the update?
    4. What style of console are you using (Original White, Xbox 360 S, Xbox 360 E, etc)?
    5. What type/size storage device are you using? Is it an official Microsoft storage device?

Let us know and we'll work with you from there! ^_^

Try booting with the HDD removed. If it boots quicker, it could be an issue with the HDD. If it still is slow, try booting without an internet connection. The Xbox sometimes waits for an internet connection.

If you can, try updating without an HDD in (some updates can go through, while others can't), then try it again.

Xbox One taking forever to start up

Hello Fudgebar! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Sounds like it could be the HDD could be failing. Have you tried going into Safe Mode and reset the Xbox and keeping games and apps?

Xbox One S taking forever to start up

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Duane, I don't know how long your Xbox One S has been in its way, but depending on how long it may be slow cause of dirt inside it (dust), this consequently compromises the cooling of the console.

If you've tried both types of factory reset, keeping games and Apps and erasing everything, and it's still slow and slow to start and slow to navigate menus, it may need an internal cleanup.
