Xbox support sucks.

I have been dealing with the same issue since I got the xbox a year and a half ago. I have been on the phone and the online support sometimes for an entire day, most of which is waiting on hold or calling back because they have disconnected the call. The
problem is that the system keeps needing to be reformatted. Now it wont even reformat at all. After all of this, I was never informed that the hard drive had a problem and should be fixed or replaced. When someone finally says this to me, it is too late, the
warranty has expired. THis is crap. Now I have to pay almost as much as a new system costs to get it fixed. NO WAY. they wont even let me speak to a supervisor. Not to mention I cant even understand half of what they say.

Never ever buy xbox again.

When it needs to update, the console becomes unformatted and we have to reformat. Sometimes it will format, most of the time it won't. The main result is that my son can't save any game and has to keep playing the same levels over and over.

 

So you never once thought that the hard drive needing to reformat all the time could be a problem with the hard drive?

You can buy replacement official hard drives for a fraction of the cost of a new console. With the most recent update the 360 also supports external USB hard drives of up to 1tb.

If I were you I'd remove the faulty hard drive you have and either buy an official replacement or a USB external.
