Xbox struggles to turn on

My xbox is just under a month old but it seems to struggle to turn on, whenever I I press the on the button

the screen just stays black and the red lights don't come on the kinetic . It task about 3 attemps to turn on

is this normal?

Soo ive been playing my xbox and it started to overheat so i decided to unplug it and let it rest. Plug my xbox back in and to my surprise my xbox decides to fail on me. I press the power button and it makes the noise and makes a couple click noises but
light never turns on. Id press the eject button multiple times and by the third press the power brick turns orange. When i leave the xbox xonnected for a long period it starts to heat up and i press the power button and it actually lights up !! I got excited
too soon because the xbox didnt even turn on its fan nor does it pop up in the tv...anybody think they know whats the issue?

 

No that's not normal. Is there any other sounds or problems associated with turning it on? Also, once it's on/operating, is it laggy/slow or acting out of sorts otherwise? My guess would be a HD problem if it's having a hard time booting into the OS.

 

Do you use power saving mode or instant on?

 

Power saving mode, there is no sound either the screen just stays black or the xbox just turns it's self off

 

I need to change the varistor of my power supply because the mine is burned but I do not have the specs. Do know something about that?

@AaronMeredith92: was this occurring prior to the last update coming out? or has this been a consistent issue since you got it?

 

I've only had the xbox about 3 weeks and been like it since I've bought it I've just ignored it but it's starting to annoy me now

 

Ok, well that narrows it down. Have you been able to do a successful system update with it? If you haven't, then I would first recommend trying this:

support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool You can use it to manually push your system up to the latest system update. Now if doing that doesn't work, then it might be more hardware related. Did you purchase your XBO from a retailer/online?
If so, then hopefully you're still inside the return window and I would try and exchange it for a new system. Outside of that, I would say it might have to be sent in for diagnostics and repair. At least IMO.
