    Xbox streams to Laptop ok but can't control it remotely with wireless remote


    I just got a new surface book at xmas and bought a wireless controller at the MS store at the mall. I paired my wireless remote to my surface book and I'm able to connect to my xbox (I can a mirror image of my xbox but I'm unable to control my console remotely
    and play any games. I'm guessing there is something simple that I'm missing here.

    This is in my house and both devices are using the same wireless network. The remote I bought is paired to the surface book. Any suggestions?

    NE1 KNOW IF A PC 2 XBOX360 CONTROLLER-SIMULATOR EXISTS? (REMOTE CONTROLLING)

    There's an IR port on the 360 for remote control with a Windows Media Center remote. Between that and a SlingBox, you can control a 360 remotely as well as stream video from it.

    Windows 10 streaming without TV?

    I've done it remotely
    Xbox one in my house streamed to my parents laptop in their house (in a different city) for when my son sleeps over
    And it worked great for single player games only

    The remote can't be only Infrared else it wouldn't be controlling my laptop when I am not point the remote at it. I am in front of my laptop pointing it at my xbox but my HP PC is also being controlled at the same time.



    I can point my remote to the ceiling and still make the media centre on my PC pop up and then move around using the arrow keys on my 360 remote

    Hi, thanks for the response. That's not quite my situation. I have an HDMI connection to my desktop monitor, and my second connection is a wireless stream to my laptop through the Xbox app. I don't have a wireless connection between my laptop and my desktop,
    so I can't influence settings remotely on my desktop monitor. I was hoping there was some way of having the stream take priority and disable the HDMI connection.

    You download the Xbox conpanon app to wireless display or if you want remote play it or cloud stream if you have gamepass ultimate

    I believe it may only be infrared in controlling the xbox 360. but the controller is a universal remote. and it has a Media Centre button which has been on computers way before the xbox 360 was even created.

    There is just no other explanation for why I can control my HP Vista Home Premium Laptop Computer. My HP Laptop came with its own little remote. That sticks into the side of the laptop. My laptop has a IR sensor on the front but I disabled it. Now the Remote
    that came with the Laptop doesn't work but the 360 Remote still does.
