Xbox Strategy (Xbox One S/Scorpio)

After spending the preceding weeks from E3 and the nature of my work in the gaming industry, I have had time to analyze the announcements made by Phil Spencer and what I believe is the Xbox Strategy moving forward. Let me be clear in saying that I have no
foreknowledge of any movements in Xbox or Microsoft. This is just my personal opinion based on observations.

The announcement of Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio in the same conference seemed to breed an air of confusion among the gaming community. Members of the gaming press have admitted a lack of understanding with the announcement and members of the public that
I have spoken to seem to share the confusion. It would make little to no sense to announce a new model available to the public within two months time only to undercut the announcement by making another announcement at the end of the conference, an announcement
of a more powerful console due at the end of next year. Except that it makes perfect sense, sense beyond the intention of transparency that Phil Spencer and the rest of the Xbox team wish to convey. Let me explain.

Displaying two new consoles reveals the new Xbox strategy of continuing to move forward outside of the console war. The dance between the different hardware manufacturers; Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony has always been a period of 6 to 8 years supporting the
current iteration of their hardware with incremental updates in order to continue selling consoles. This is a strategy that will continue with Sony going forward, while Nintendo will progress at their own pace because they are Nintendo. Microsoft's strategy,
however, is to continue to update and increase the staying power of the Xbox without further adding to the generational gaps that have plagued the gaming industry in the past. When a new console generation launches the typical investment of the average gamer
is in the range of $400 over the cost of the console of choice. This includes new controllers, new headsets, other miscellaneous accessories as well as, in the case of PlayStation, an initial cost of activating online services. With Xbox's strategy of introducing
console upgrades that will cater to the audience of the intended console (such as Scorpio for VR and 4K Native gaming or Xbox One S for parallel entry cost while upgrading to the lowest cost 4K Blu-ray player on the market), this means that the initial day
one adopters of the Xbox One will continue to be supported as will the adopters of the Xbox 10 years from now as the strategy has become cultivating an ecosystem of Xbox. An ecosystem where everyone is invited and no one is left behind.

The Elite Controller I purchased with my Xbox One will continue to work with me Xbox One S, Xbox Scorpio and the possible Xbox Titan that will exists 10 years from now. (Xbox Titan is just a really cool sounding name, I have no idea if that will be the name
for an Xbox model down the road). The Xbox games I have purchased with my Xbox One and the Xbox games I will purchase years from now will be Xbox games and my Xbox model will continue to support all releases. This universal inclusion of all things Xbox is
the impressive strategy that I have taken from the formal announcements and interviews given by Phil Spencer and the Xbox team about Scorpio and the future of Xbox but like all things time will tell.

:)

3. Will Scorpio play with Xbox One S?

I'm trying to decide if I should get the Xbox One S or wait for Project Scorpio. If Scorpio is coming out in June I'll definitely wait, but that is unlikely (Unless Xbox wants to be even more awesome). But my friends have the Xbox One S and are getting the
Scorpio so, will Xbox One S players be able to play with Scorpio players and are the games going to change to different "Scorpio" games like what happened when the Xbox One came out?

Future Xbox One games optimized for the Scorpio?

.........

Hello "J3RS3Y DEVIL" :)

.........

I hope that the only difference between the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One Scorpio will be the graphics.

Example: Xbox One and Xbox One S isn't powerful enough to have certain features, so these features will only be available on the Xbox One Scorpio. Like game modes, etc...

Xbox one Scorpio exclusive games?

Bottom line if the Scopio has better hardware it will look better even at 1080p.. Its impossible for it not to. I'm hoping Scorpio gets its own exclusives. The option to upgrade or not is there. I hope MS makes Scorpio a new console gen and thats it.
Scorpio WILL look better on a 1080p TV vs Xbox One.. There is no way it wont. Look at the Xbox S. That HDR built into it. Rod Ferguson said Gears 4 will look better on Xbox S vs Xbox One due to the HDR. Scorpio will have HDR plus better hardware. Scorpio
is a must own for me..

Game Sharing on Project Scorpio?

The Xbox Scorpio is still an Xbox One, so same rules will still apply. Just like they do with Xbox One and Xbox One S.

Future Xbox One games optimized for the Scorpio?
Scorpio is an XBox ONE that's optimised for 4K display.
Kind of an odd blanket statement. Are you saying that's all it is or in addition to this?

Either way, I disagree with the statement. Scorpio is not an "Xbox One". Xbox One is the 8th Generation of Video Game Consoles. Scorpio will be in the 9th Generation of Video Game Consoles. MS can PR speak all they want saying it's not a different Generation.
Truth is when they make that claim, they are pandering to a demographic that will scream "you abandoned us!".

Scorpio will more then likely begin with simple Ports from Xbox One and Xbox One S to the Scorpio Platform due to the claimed nature of Universal Windows Platform. However I'm going to call bs on MS claim and I believe from evidence of past Generations of Video
Game Consoles that they have Ports and then exclusives to that Generation that were not possible on prior Generations.

To say Scorpio is a Xbox "optimised" for 4k Display is a simplified blanket term, that in reality is what the Xbox One S already does. The Xbox One S is a 4k Upscale Display version of the Xbox One and very little else (sans some additional Features, HDR, IR
Blaster and such). Scorpio on the other hand while will have both Upscale and maybe even Native 4k Games and will also have much better performance for exclusives for that Generation.

TL:DR- Scorpio will have Games not available on either Xbox One or Xbox One S.
