Xbox store

im not having any issues with the store i was just curious as to why games are dearer on the store than in the shops? One of the game stores are selling black ops 4 for £50 while i spent £60 on the game on the xbox store.

Hey Y2F R1 2008,

probleme with store so couple hours ago alert for purchasing and content right now its okay just for red dead redemption.

only waiting couple day ago i have same probleme just waiting.

go on support chat or phone for assits with that or waiting.

Not sure about the past couple of days, but there is a service alert up at the moment -

Prices on the Xbox store are largely made by the publishers so tend to keep them at MSRP as long as possible. Retail stores only have to cover their costs so they have more wiggle room to be able to adjust their prices.

 

Also wondered about this for some time, then did some research into the matter and now understand the reasons why.

Its as the other have mentioned.

 

I did think it was publishers rather than microsoft themselves. But they sell 10 pounds dearer than the stores sell them, and they sell them wholesale to stores cheaper than what the stores are actually selling them for, they must make a killing off of
digital games if microsoft dont make anything off of games sold in the store.

 

What are you have issues with? Buying the game?

 

Im not having any issues with the store, my issue is that i bought black ops 4 which has only released on the xbox store for £60 when i could walk into the store and buy it for £50, the problem with that is i dont like physical copys and dont see why digital
buyers are being made pay extra for games. Battlefield v is out in a few days and the same problem occurs, i could buy it in a game store for £50 but it is £60 on the xbox store

Online prices keep varying on the Microsoft Store just like in a physical store which may have seasonal sales. Check storeparser.com to see the trend of pricing on the Microsoft store.

 

As a digital-only purchaser this has always been a gripe of mine but I understand why the publishers want to make a profit. It's just a matter of patience and waiting for holiday deals and price drops.

 

A lot of stores, esp large supermarkets will sometimes sell physical copies much cheaper and even at a loss to drive people to their stores as they tend to buy other items while there. Also physical items have storage cost etc so after a while a store wants
to recoup their spend so will sell cheaper to clear out stock.

You don't get that with digital copies except when Xbox run a sale promotion like the current black Friday offers.

 

Digital always seems to be more expensive unless deals are on I think stores just reduce the price of games to get people in store

 

Shop around online for digital codes. You'll usually find them cheaper than the Xbox Store. There are a lot of places to shop online.

 

I really think everyone is missing the point im making, games are more expensive than the physical copy of the same game brand new on release day, i didnt compare the price of digital to super makret i compred it to the price of game stores, i get after
a while physical copys will drop in price while digital wont unless its during a sale im fine with that, i dont see why people who buy digital have to pay £10 extra for the same game, game stores arent going to sell at a lose as thats what they need to cover
their over heads so there is no reason for companys to be selling their games dearer on the xbox store. I used black ops as my example as it is literaly just out even battlefield v is £60 on the xbox store but in a game shop is £50 another example of the same
