  1. Xbox Store, well over priced?

I'm a gamer. Plenty of games, plenty of formats to play them on, but the more I look at the Xbox store, the more disheartened I get, seeing prices well over the retail price for a hard copy of the retail version of the game. I'm paying for a download
of the game, which I don't mind, not paying postage, not paying delayed waiting games for it to arrive, but at the same time, I'm still expected to pay higher in some cases and when they have a sale, the prices seem to drop to actual retail prices of the full
game anyway, so no real bonus after all?

Isn't it time for Microsoft to start getting this store, back into the realms of reality, giving it's loyal customers who've already paid "GOLD" membership to use the store in the first place, a chance of having a proper online library of games, in the same
reality as PC gamers can with Steam and other such sites at more affordable, that encourage the use of their online store?

    :)

Digital doesn't take up the same amount of physical space. They don't need to store multiple copies, everyone downloads the same one. Digital doesn't need to clear stock to make room for new items coming in.

If you want cheaper console games then physical is the way to go.

PC games are cheaper because there is competition in the market and publishers don't need to pay a licensing fee to have their game on the platform.

The general reality is that if you want cheaper games then the PC is the place to go. Yet if you do then you'll be paying more for your hardware.

pc is cheaper because of the decline in pc gaming, the store has the same prices as the ps4, simple, dont like it then by physical and continue gaming.

Basically, Microsoft (and Sony for that matter) are only charging the RRP on games, most games you buy from Amazon etc are actually sold below the RRP because they buy in bulk and get discount.

Also can you really see Microsoft/Sony selling digital games cheaper than Amazon or GAME etc? what do you think they will do? Microsoft needs Amazon and GAME etc to sell the consoles, so why would you undercut the people who sell your hardware?

  7. Have to agree with the OP I would like to just buy the digi copy save me thew hastle but I dont want to pay the €15/€20 more. Would like to see Gold memebers get it at retail prices but as has been said there never going to do it. People will always still
    buy at the inflated price.

as has been said you are getting them at retail price that is RRP, brick and mortar stores sell cheaper to pull in the customers and we need them to sell the hardware.

Same as PSN, in the UK anyway I know its cheaper on the US versions, companies refer to the UK as treasure Island because they can charge us more

LOL PC games are cheaper because they don't include the costs of subsidising a console, surly you guys knew this?

  11. Do they need brick and mortar stores to sell consoles though? People are buying more and more of their games online, why wouldn't they just buy their consoles online as well.

People buy physical games online, why wouldn't they buy a physical console online?

If people are so willing to embrace a digital future, why are they so keen to allow brick and mortar stores to control pricing of games and consoles?

Microsoft are starting to sell their console from the MS store, but for this generation that is just a fraction of the total consoles sold.

And when we all say "brick and mortar" stores, we basically mean anything other than Microsoft. I mean can you imagine Microsoft undercutting Amazon on digital games? Amazon would tell Microsoft where to go. Same with Sony and Nintendo, they all need retailers
    to sell their goods.

I would love to switch to Digital completely but the price does put me off.

It is not down to Microsoft however as the prices are set by the publishers if I remember correctly??

Also if anyone is buying Digital then use a site like CD Keys for XBL Credit, you will make some sort of saving even it is only a few £££'s.

  14. If price are set by publishers, how can sites like CD Keys sell the games for cheaper? Wouldn't they have the same price as Microsoft?

Are they stealing as they sell XBL Credit for less than its worth.

No because a site like CD keys is buying digital codes in bulk, where with the Xbox Store you are basically paying for an instant download.
