Xbox Store Rip Off in Australia

The cost of games and DLC on the Australian xbox store is a rip off compared to the US. Yes the Aussie dollar has fallen from its highs but we are paying 30% to 50% extra in Australia.

Case in point, I went to buy Wolfenstein: The Old Blood on the store at it is $40 on the US store it is only $20 USD. If you convert the currencies it should be around the $25 Australian dollars even after adding GST it would make that game $27.50 so why
are we paying an extra $12.50.

So why is it that Microsoft sees fit to charge us like the Aussie dollar is only worth 50 or 60 cents to one US dollar and not 80 cents where it is now?

You didn't see content getting cheaper a couple of years ago when the Aussie dollar was worth more that the US Dollar!

Game RIP OFF!

GAME is also a store that closed down completely in my country. Probably due to the obnoxious staff and the rip off prices I don't know about the UK but they did it completely wrong in my Australia.

I wanted to buy this but the game is a rip off if you live in Australia. $20 in the US or $40 AUD in Australia, so its double the price but even when you convert the currencies from USD to AUD it should only cost $25 Australian Dollars.

absolutely agree... I wanted to buy Lego Marvel Super Heroes on the store because I prefer digital copies... but its $89.95!!

I've seen it in stores new for $49.. and ozgameshop was selling it for $35

that doesn't ever factor in different currencies... just further emphasizes there's something wrong with their price gouging

 

Yeah I was disappointed with the old blood's price compared to the US price, $40 is practically a AAA game release price so it made me not want to jump in straight away.

Also season pass prices seem to be getting pretty ridiculous and it doesn't seem like they have more content then last generation so it's getting really hard to justify full price purchases for a lot of this stuff.

 

Its simple as to why they do it, because they can and it only adds to their conviction when they see people are buying the over priced stuff.

I used to think it was an agreement with the likes of EB games that they needed to be dearer otherwise the majority would go digital downloads and only the people wanting the hard copies would use game stores sending them broke but now im not so sure thats
the case. Seems it is just a cash grab at people silly enough to use it.

Despite what it may tell you on the purchase page, that is not entirely the case. Microsoft have to comply with the Australian Consumer Law. They do offer refunds under certain circumstance (defective, product isn't what it
is advertised as, etc). You won't get a refund if you simply don't like it.
