    Xbox storage missing?

If you have an Xbox Series X or Series S, it's important to note that the system reserves some of the internal storage space for the operating system and system files, which is why you might not see the full 364GB of storage available for games and apps. This reserved space can account for a significant portion of your total storage.

Additionally, other factors that can affect the available storage space include game updates, temporary files, and saved data. Here's what you can do to investigate and potentially free up some storage:

    1. Clear Cache: Clearing the cache on your Xbox can help remove temporary files that might be taking up space. Go to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local saved games. This will clear the cache but won't delete your game progress.
    2. Check for Game Updates: Game updates can be quite large. Make sure you have the latest updates installed for your games, and also check if there are any outdated or unnecessary game installations that can be removed.
    3. Manage Game Files: Some games allow you to selectively uninstall specific parts of the game (e.g., language packs, single-player, or multiplayer components). Check if your game has this feature and free up space by removing unnecessary components.
    4. Delete Unused Games and Apps: Go through your installed games and apps and delete any that you no longer use or need.
    5. Move Games to an External Drive: You can consider getting an external USB drive to expand your storage. The Xbox Series X/S allows you to store and run games from an external drive.
    6. Check for System Updates: Make sure your Xbox is running the latest system software updates. Sometimes, system updates can include optimizations and improvements that might free up some space.
    7. Factory Reset as a Last Resort: If none of the above steps work and you still can't account for the missing storage space, you can perform a factory reset on your Xbox. This should return your console to its default state, but it will also delete all your games and apps, so use this as a last resort.
After trying these steps, you should be able to better manage your storage and potentially free up some of the missing space. If you're still experiencing issues or are unable to account for the space, consider reaching out to Xbox Support for further assistance.

    Xbox storage missing?

So you only have 1 game installed?

If you are using "Sort by size" in "My games & apps", bear in mind that it only shows the size of just the game itself, not any DLC that's installed for it. To see the full size taken up by the game and DLC, you need to go into "Manage game" for that particular game.

If that's not the issue and you literally only have that one game installed, if restarting the console doesn't help, I would do a factory reset, choosing the option to keep your games/apps installed. It doesn't take long and you won't need to reinstall/re-download the 168GB game, but you will need to sign back into your account(s), so make sure you know the login details. Also, only do that if you have been using your console while connected to the Xbox Network, cos if you were playing completely offline, your game save for that game won't be backed up in the cloud and would be lost.

    Xbox storage missing?

Hi Harley H, my name is Daniel. I am an independent advisor who is willing to help you.

For me, it is an honor to write to you and try to help you in any way possible, for my part I will do my best to try to solve any questions/problems you are presenting.

Some of the storage space may be being used by the operating system and other system files. There may also be other games or apps installed on your Xbox that are taking up space. You can check the amount of space used by each game or app in your Xbox's storage settings. To verify, follow these steps:

    1. Turn on your Xbox and go to the main menu.
    2. Navigate to the Settings tab at the top of the screen.
    3. Select the System option.
    4. From the drop-down menu, choose Storage.
    5. You will see a list of storage devices connected to your Xbox. Select the one you are using.
    6. A list of games and apps installed on that storage device will appear, along with the amount of space they take up.
    7. Examine the list to see if there are any games or apps that are taking up significant space that you haven't accounted for.

Let me know if this information is useful to you. I wait your answer!

    Best regards,
    Daniel.

    Missing storage

As is stated on the box, that space is used for system operations. You can't get it back

Xbox 360 won't move beyond loading circles

Ah, missed that. I will try alternative storage. I have an XBox with built-in flash as well. Does that count as alternative storage?
